Presenting the 2008 Sarah Palin Awards

Post by Cowboy Joe » Fri Sep 19, 2008 1:23 pm

The Sarah Palin Awards recognize those teams that made gutsy draft picks that panned out. 2 criteria are used:

1. The MLB player's performance must have far exceeded his expected performance based on his ADP.

2. The NFBC team must have selected the MLB player significantly ahead of his ADP.

GRAND PRIZE: Contender from Orlando 3 for picking Dustin Pedroia with pick #99, his ADP was 188

Runners Up (in no particular order):

Rainy Day Banditos, Las Vegas 10, Brian McCann, pick #31, ADP 60

Croatian Gyros, New York 3, Kevin Youkilis, pick #137, ADP 204

Keeneland, Chicago 1, Josh Hamilton, pick #52, ADP 90

Boilermakers, Las Vegas 3, Raul Ibanez, pick #117, ADP 171

Reservoir Dawgs, Las Vegas 10, Justin Duchscherer, pick #213, ADP 305

Honorable Mention (in no particular order)

Two 84 Gators and Sons, Orlando 1, Jorge Cantu, pick #266, ADP 390)

Contenders, Orlando 3, Mark Reynolds, pick #159, ADP 244

"That's a Show", New York 2, Melvin Mora, pick #233, ADP 326

Quincy Bruins, New York 2, Ian Kinsler, pick 35, ADP 52

Big Alameda Machine, Las Vegas 3, Alexei Ramirez, pick #269, ADP 394

Team Roberts, Orlando 1, Jhonny Peralta, pick #126, ADP 192

Heads, Las Vegas 10, Carlos Quentin, pick #278, ADP 369

Boilermakers, Las Vegas 3, Cliff Lee, pick #327, ADP 436

Legacy, Las Vegas 8, Derek Lowe, pick #130, ADP 184

Greenwich St Tavern, New York 4, Carlos Delgado, pick #126, ADP 193

Congrats to the winners. VP Palin will make a moose stew in your honor.

Hey, I picked him back up. For $1. It was all good. Dukes was another one. Some of my best free agents were guys I drafted and dropped before grabbing again. You could argue that I belong on this list *and* the great free agent picks list for these guys.

Also, he hit .310, 52, 18, 64, 11 in 384 at bats for me as opposed to his current line of .297, 59, 19, 70, 12 in 445 at bats. Gotta drop the guys during the useless weeks.
