I tried to post this on the league message board, but as you know it won't take some posts. David DiDonato won his second Ultimate Title.

David,

Congratulation another huge victory. You have established yourself as one best fantasy baseball players in the country. This gives you two NFBC Ultimate titles, two NFBC main event wins and one NFBC overall title and career fantasy baseball winnings over $200,000. You are the number one player in this event and player to contend each and every year. Best luck over the winter...You owe me a steak dinner next time I head up your way!!

CC

Also, congratulation to Robert Jurney for winning the 2008 overall title. I has to be a thrill to finally have the season over.

Quahogs....great job...I feel for you being on the door step.

Master of the Midway...you hung tough after being knock around in the middle of the summer. It was nice talking to you and I'll contact you again over the winter.

All-In..Jeff, you are a big player in the NFBC and it goods to see you finish in the top 10. Best of luck and continued success.

Guess Who...another great season...You might very well be the first fantasy player to win in two sports.

Lone Gone...Fresh off the streets of Michigan, you took your lumps the first couple of years. You came close and proved to yourself you know what it takes to win in the NFBC.

Caption Grumpy...Chris nice talking to you in Vegas in August. Congrats on taking me down in the main event. If I only bid on Ricky Nolassco...

Spartacus...Just another great player from Colorado...You had your hand in every pot. I look forward to the next time we talk.

Hard Heads....there was something about the screwed the pooch line that brought back memories of the Fisher party. Nice season...you both are quality guys.

Todd Zola...Did you get that monkey off your back? It wasn't a main event title, but a $1300 NL auction title is a solid victory. Your partner in crime just missed the double banger for fantasybaseball.com.

Walla Walla...It just proves you got game!! I think you posted the highest total in a satellite league. You owe Eddie a BAM!!

For those I haven't met who have finished in the top ten, Congrats...

Each year you meet more and more players. You develop great relationships across the country. I like to thank Rick Thomas, Terry Haney, Eddie Gillis, and Steve Jupinka who I think logged the most air time on my cell phone. Sack...I don't think you get enough air time, but it is always a pleasure. It was good to see your CDM boys have some success this year. I'd like to thank Tom and Greg for their endless passion for our game.

Shawn

thanks for the kind words. You once again gave me all I could handle. To be considered one of the top players in this game, by you, the person who I feel is consistently the best, really means something to me. Thanks again and that steak will be ready whenever you want it!!For those of you who dont know, Shawn finished a very close second in Ultimate 1. Congratulations to all the other money winners, especially Robert for your overall win. Job well done. Thanks again Greg and Tom...nobody does it better.

Great post Shawn. It's incredible the level of talent that we've seen in this event over the course of the past five seasons. I'm not going to single anyone out because I'd likely leave someone deserving off the list, but I do think it's worth mentioning David DiDonato's second Ultimate league championship. That is an impressive accomplishment given the competition in that event each year. Very well done David.

Shawn, this is a great post and coming from you I'm sure this means a lot to everyone. Classy, classy post, but I would expect nothing less from you.

Nothing in life is perfect as we learn every season. But one thing I know is constant each year is that we have assembled the best fantasy players in the country in this contest and if you win ANY NFBC title, you've really accomplished something. There are no gimmes here. You do it the old-fashioned way: YOU EARN IT!!

The list of winners has a lot of familiar names on it and that's not a coincidence. But there are also a lot of new names, guys who have battled for five years now and finally made it to the top. That's great.

Thanks for a great year everyone. It's the PLAYERS that make this contest what it is. And guys like Shawn make competing against the best fun, even if it feels like banging your head against the wall at times!! :D

Must be a mistake (I blame STATS). Still living in Framingham but now working in Southbridge, a pretty decent hike.

Shawn:

That was a classy and great post you made. We battled it at down to the end and fortunately I was able to catch a few good games and thanks to Myers fall out of the overall Top 10. It was also great chatting with you in Vegas at the NFFC. I can't wait to start baseball season again in 2009.

Greg and Tom, keep up the awesome work as you two are making the NFBC the best fantasy sports game in the country.

All the best,

Chris (Captain)

Shawn, thanks for the kind words, I have never met you personally but have only heard good things from the rest of the NFBC family. It was one roller coaster ride that I am glad is finally over. I keep seeing people like you, Gekko, Quahogs and several others that cash in just about every event you enter and I wanna be like you guys when I grow up. I had the please of meeting Steve (Quahogs) in NY for football this year and he is definitely a class act. Thanks again

Shawn,

Thanks for the kind words and addition to your list. As a rookie finishing 23rd is definitely satisfying, even with all the rookie mistakes we made that could very well have cost us a shot at Bobby J. From what I hear Mike is still reeling from the spank heard 'round Vegas that special night. LOL Best of luck to you in Football, all except the DC league of course. ;) See you in Vegas in March!

Hey Steve, you are probably right since we have such a small sample, 5 years. I guess I am relating everything to playing poker, no one remembers the WSOP winner year to year, except for this time of year when it is crammed down your throat, but everyone remembers the Hellmuths, Chans and Brunsons because of their numberous bracelets and career winnings

thanks Tom and Mark....I dont know if winning the Ultimate is any greater accomplishment than winning a regular Main title, but the money sure is better. The talent thats been assembled in these contests is better each and every year. I've been fortunate to win my share.
