$325 Draft Champions - Slow Draft format

Post by KJ Duke » Wed Jan 07, 2009 12:31 pm

$325 Draft Champions (no free agents) format, 45 rounds

Slow Draft - be prepared for 3-4 weeks with a 12-hour clock

Top 3 teams win a free $1300 event entry next season!

Thought I'd kick this off in a separate thread so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. The football slow drafts were a big hit ...

Post below if you're interested and I'll put you on the list. We'd try to start ASAP after the league is full, ideally, the day after we have 15 committed.

A few caveats on the slow format -

1) If you can't check in at least every 12 hours for the next few weeks, don't sign up.

2) If you miss a pick you'll be assigned a pick you'll have to live with.

3) As of now, there is no "immediate" autopick function, but we'll see if we can get that added - it will save days if not weeks off the draft time.

9. Matt Bauler

10. Tony Cincotta

11. Bryan "norcalatlfan"

12. Andy Saxton

13. Eddie Gillis

14. Shawn Childs

15. Bobby Jurney

Send your KDS preferences to [email protected] when ready and we'll start this draft as soon as MDC.com sets it up. Good luck all.

This will be a great way to ramp up the coming season. It'll be over before the sat season starts, get you focused BEFORE the Spring Training daily update season starts, and be fun to boot.

kind of like a draft IV drip ... :D

Please note, after talking with Q who suggested the DC, we agreed a ShawnChilds League type payout would make sense for this one.

Jim and HH please confirm you're ok with this. We'll try this payout and if we can't fill we can always move it down to a lower level.
Yeah, with a slight kicker for 1st and a 350 rather than 325 entry. I didnt add the kicker here for simplicity and to keep the price lower.

Will this be like a sit and go? Once we have all the teams confirmed and paid...we begin?

We post our picks right here on the MB, right?

Count me in. I can check in often, and for sure nightly.

~Lance Lance, glad to see you thinking about bases again. Hope to be able to buy you an umbrella drink at the Flamingo pool again this year. :D

Yes, this league can be a draft and go once it's full, given a few days for MDC.com to set it up. But then you actually make your picks on the MDC site, not on the message board. It's just that you don't have to be on the site all the time. When it's your turn to pick, I believe you just go to that league page on Mock Draft Central and officially make your pick. Isn't that right Kevin?

No free agent bidding =

We still set our lineups and have the Friday deal?

~Lance Yes on both. Correct, this DC format is appealing because it takes away the Sunday work load. You have 45 players on your roster to deal with and that's it. And yes, if you have a player in your starting lineup who lands on the DL by Friday, you can move him out just like in any other NFBC league.

This looks like a fun group. I look forward to seeing the results and see how long it takes to draft this. I have a feeling the bug will get everyone and those first few rounds will cruise pretty quickly. Good stuff.

I think Tony Cincotta wants a spot in this. Tony, shoot me another e-mail to confirm as this is now a $325 league not $250. And tomorrow we'll get your MB access fixed.

We'll just need to run credit cards, create this on the Registration page, get all of the owners' names to MDC.com and then get the league set up on there. Then we'll be ready to go.
I already saw the forecast for Thursday, March 19th when we're sitting at the pool on the "off" day. It's going to be 88, unseasonably warm, sunny and there's all winning bets in the Flamingo sportsbook for 16 March Madness games that day. :D If that's not a vacation I don't know what one is. :D
