New Slow Draft League Offerings This Week

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:09 am

Last week we started up a new Slow Draft League thread and we eventually filled up one league at $125 per team, $250 per team and $325 per team. Since that thread has run its course, I'll start up another thread here and just see what kind of interest we have through the Super Bowl. Below is a signup list for one of each brand, so feel free to post your interest here and we'll see where it takes us. If it takes a week or so to get these filled up, no problem.

Going forward, there has been a suggestion to almost segment some of these for folks who want to do these a little more quickly and maybe even for folks on different coasts so that folks can get together at night in the draft rooms and speed things along. I'm all for that and I think we can do more of those in February and even early March. But for now, let's just see if we can get those who want to compete in a league and finish these in 2-3 weeks.

Okay, here's the offerings for this week and feel free to just put your name down here and as we get closer to filling these up we'll create special signup threads for each. Thanks all.

Here we go:

$325, 45-round Draft Champions Slow Draft, Pay Top 3 finishers a free entry in the 2010 NFBC main event

$250, 45-round Draft Champions Slow Draft, Pay Top 3: $2,000, $750, $250

$125, 45-round Draft Champions Slow Draft, Pay Top 3: $1,000, $375, $125

Here's the concept: 15 owners, 45 rounds, no FAAB during the season, and we'll pay the top three finishers in each event. So the roster you draft is what you have to work with during the season. There are no pickups, but you still set your starting lineup each week and make moves on Friday for DL players if needed.

$325 NFBC Draft Champions Slow Draft League No. 4

On MockDraftCentral.com starting when league fills

$325 Entry Fee, Pay $1,300 or 2010 NFBC main event free entry to Top 3 finishers

2. Jim Stanard

We also have this $250 offering:

$250 NFBC Draft Champions Slow Draft League No. 4

On MockDraftCentral.com starting when league fills

$250 Entry Fee, Pay $2,000 for first place, $750 for second and $250 for third

1. Andy Nolan/Chris Stephenson

2. Don Brady

3. Dan Holak

And now we're offering a $125 Slow Draft League

$125 NFBC Draft Champions Slow Draft League No. 3

On MockDraftCentral.com starting when league fills

$125 Entry Fee, Pay $1,000 for first place, $375 for second and $125 for third

6. Scott Martin

7. Lawrence Liebman

8. Mike Patterson

9. Carl Borgatti

Greg,

We'd consider one of these if the interest is out there...

Is there a reason why they are all 45 round DC drafts?

I think there are two appeals of the Slow Drafts right now: 1) the fact that you don't have to manage these teams via free agency during the season, so they aren't additional strains on your Sunday nights; and 2) the depth of 45 rounds is great practice before the main event. 45 rounds uncovers every possible pick – you'd think – that you should consider on Draft Day.

It's possible we could add a 30-round draft that is played out through the season if that's what enough owners want. I'll add it if the demand is there, but right now I'm hearing that the DC concept is less taxing and the 45 rounds is enjoyable even if it is long.

I obviously have too much dollars and not enough sense. I absolutely love the slow draft format; but, I especially love the idea of going 45 deep with no free agent purchases. Like it. Like it. Okay, my cocaine habit stops after this, I promise. Put me down for the three new slow draft offerings. I may have to pull out of one. I definetely want the one with the free 2010 entry- the $325.00. But,for now, sign me up for the $125.00 and $250.00 also. i should be good on money once I sell some more plasma. Seriously, Greg, tom- you guys are doing a great job and always looking for ways to make it better.

Okay, we have four owners for the $125 Slow Draft League already. Don't be afraid to jump in, the water is warm and it's only 45 feet deep! :D I mean, 45 rounds deep. :D

I prefer the $325 prize format, so sign me up for that. Also, I'd prefer a 30 round with FA, but I'll do the 45 round draft champ.

-Craig K Hey Craig, what's the second $125 we signed you up for? We only have one $125 league with openings right now and it's the one in this thread. If you don't want to be in this one let us know and we'll take you off the list. Thanks.

Tom,

I'm currently participating in the Jan 26 $250 league. A lot of fun so far. That's the league I was referring to already being in. Thanks,

May I pay using Paypal? A different credit card from the one on record? I'm budgeted for two Vegas drafts as far as my wife knows!
