Live Chats On The NFBC Boards

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Feb 02, 2009 7:54 am

Okay, in seven weeks Draft Day will be here and gone, so it's time to get serious on the NFBC boards. My goal this year is to have more daily activity on the NFBC boards where baseball is the dominant theme and we can discuss some players seriously. With that in mind, I'm going to have at least one Live Chat per week with an industry writer and at least one Live Chat per week with either Tom or me or both of us. I think we'll shoot for each Wednesday at 2 p.m. EST each week and work around that date each week through March.

So here's your chance to request who you would like to see on our NFBC boards. Let me know who you'd like to talk with and I'll send out an invitation to that person. I can't promise that everyone can be on the NFBC boards as some writers have to stay on their own site, but we'll ask nonetheless.

I've already asked Rick Wilton and he will try to do it either this week or next week. He's traveling now, but said he always looks forward to talking with our dedicated audience. Who else would you like to see on our boards?

I've invited Jason Grey today, but I didn't hear back from him. I'm not sure if those guys can chat on other boards, but we'll see. Nate and Jason would be great on here and they can pump ESPN's new products if they'd like.

Greg,

Do you know Keith Law at all from your ESPN days? I sent him something last week asking if he would be interested in coming on these boards, but have not heard anything back yet. I always find Keith's chats informative and entertaining on ESPN.

Hey Greg,

Always enjoy the chats and have always been a fan of Alex Patton and Pete Kreutzer, would love to hear what they think going into the season.

Also, I think Todd Zola would be a good choice as he has just relaunched his mastersball.com site and is an NFBC veteran himself.

I just talked with Nate and he didn't think the ESPN writers could hold chats on our boards. Bummer. I think Nate, Keith, Jason, Tristan, Matt and the others would be great here, but I certainly understand why ESPN wants their guys to host them on the Worldwide Leader's site!! :D

Yup, Todd is at the top of the lineup card and will go live on Wednesday if Rick Wilton can't jump in. I can reach out to Alex and Peter to see if they want to do this as well. Good call on that one.

Wiseguy Baseball is hitting the presses today. I have it on good account that besides Gene McCaffrey's take on the baseball season Professor Tom Zownir will have an excellent article on the 2009 hitters. Gene's sidekick, John Menna will also be producing a special on Last Years Bums - a Wiseguy trademark.

An article, specific to the NFBC drafts will also be included.

Gene McCaffrey would be a great choice to visit these boards. My shameless plug below:

Anybody familiar with WISEGUY :

The ordering procedure is the same as always: send a $40 check/MO to Wise Guy Baseball, 1331 Red Cedar Circle, Fort Collins, CO 80524, call 970-493-3793.

Can Gene type fast enough to keep up with the questions?? Gene and John, here is your invitation to join us any day in the next week or night to do a live chat. Are you up for it? Just say the word and we'll schedule it here. Thanks Kenny.

I like to read Keith Law's columns as well, but I'm pretty sure that ESPN guys aren't allowed to do any non-ESPN stuff. Somewhere in a Bill Simmons column he mentioned how the company (ESPN) forbids them.
Always be closing.

Great endorsement for WISEGUY when one of the best players in the NFBC according to the lifetime stats has sent his check! You may even have a shot in the Diamond Challenge this year Mr Childs! ;)

Now straighten Delta Airlines out and find your way to PHOENIX in route to LAS VEGAS!

Seeing as Ron Shandler said he had to check with his people to answer questions last year.Perhaps this year we could have "his people"?

Speaking of CREATIVE SPORTS - will they be doing the Spring Training reports this year Greg?

Will they make us an offer we can't refuse as members of the NFBC?

Greg, why don't we ever have live chats in the evening?

Many of us are west coasters and still at work.

Thanks,

John

I'll line up the speakers this week and put a schedule together. If the NFBC folks can host the chats at night when more folks have access to the Message Boards, I'm all for it. I'll reach out to Todd, Shawn, the CreativeSports guys, Jesse and the BaseballMafia team, and others to get the flow of baseball information going. Stay tuned, but all good ideas so far.

Live Chats On The NFBC Boards

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Feb 03, 2009 10:23 am

Okay, Rick Wilton has agreed to do a live chat with the NFBC on Wednesday, Feb. 11th at 2 p.m. EST. Rick is the industry's expert on injury reports and past injury data and he will provide a lot of good information to our group. Starting on Monday, we'll create a thread for that live chat and allow you folks to load up some questions ahead of time. That will get the chat started and allow Rick to load up some questions so that we can have a good, busy hour.

Todd, can you lead off tomorrow?? Either at 2 pm EST or 7 pm EST. Either is fine with me. Let me know and after that we'll see if Shawn will jump in. Let's get this started.

Okay, Shawn, Jesse, Dustin and the Baseball Mafia gang will join us live in the next week as well. I'll finalize a date for that one, but likely either Thursday night or Monday night. Stay tuned.
