The report I saw said May so you may want to edit your title. But it's still a pretty huge blow to the Yankees.

And those of us who've already drafted A-Roid.

The Brewers need to get on the horn with the Yankees and tell them they can have Bill Hall for a used piece of gum.

No problem boys you all are GM's time to play small ball like we use to here in NYC, put

NADY at 3B and Gardner and Swisher in the outfield with Matsui back and NO PROBLEMS!! We actual fare better with bunts and running like when they won 4 WS.

Now this messes up the first round! A-rod going at 2 to most really throws a curve ball in the top picks. I need to rethink my KDS now.......

what i love as a sox fan is that they have no real options to replace him at 3rd. the idea of nady is laughable so i can only assume that was a joke.

ransom and berroa? both ss and both suck. they need to trade nady or swisher (cause they are the only OF guys that have any kind of value) and get themselves some sort of utility guy/cheap 3rd base alternative that wont kill them.

so where does this put Aroid? 3rd round?

GO SOX!!!

Good thing we back him up with Fields in the Childs League! LOL Oops...Fields was our CI so now we have to hope Lowrie starts at SS for the SOX or we be screwed!!! Oh well, the good owners can overcome this, right???????????

What are the chances the 100K champ has A-rod on his roster? Then all the nah-sayers will say, "yeah but you got a gift in the 3rd round." Tread carefully...

With no definitive proof, I'm not here to point fingers or slander, but does Arod (who's knowingly guilty) follw the path of Griffey (who's allegedly clean) and run into injury after injury for the next 9 years ending his chances of what seemed like a guarantee to be the all-time home run leader?

I could list dozens of names over the past decade who suddenly fell off a cliff production-wise as opposed to the traditional age-realted gradual decline. All conspiracies and speculation aside, it seems obvious the effects of getting off steroids after prolonged use is a fast acting career killer. After years of being relatively injury free, you're down for 2 months with a cyst on your hip at age 33??? Are the days of Arod in the first round over?

No Uncle Dan we got ARod in the Kj league as well but for a mere $320!!

Haven't owned the punk in years and was all excited to get him in 2 of my 3 early drafts. Ok I am going to go cry now......

So now in all seriousness, where does this put A-Rod in main drafts.. late 2nd?

Its all about timing.

It is still a month till opening day, six weeks on the shelf, maybe less. I'm guessing ARod is a 2nd rounder in most drafts.

a rod will be out because they cut him open- not because of the cyst. if you move- you move your hip- so he will need to "be still" awhile. griffy took a normal progression. he just played center when he should have moved to left or right. arod will move to late second early 3rd is my guess.

It wasn't the steroids. It was Madonna. No telling what all he caught from her.

What I read was he will be basically "resting" for two weeks before he can begin the rehab. Ten weeks total. End of April is eight weeks away, so mid May maybe. People were willing to gamble (wisely) on Pujols last year in the second even though he said if StL were out of it, he would go under the knife mid-year. I think the same will be for A-Rod. Second round, just after the turn, people will gamble on A-Rod. The alure will just be too much!

I wonder if many/most of the fantasy owners of Arod in 2008 will keep an open mind...or will then add this injury to his injury last year that screwed them, and let him slide even further?

I'll take him! KDS in first 3rd could nab him on the comeback. Add his stats to his 4-6 week replacement (20 weeks of Arod!), and you have an easy late 2nd rounder with upside. 3rd base is top heavy, no way he slips into the 3rd round.

From what I have read he will be in the hospital recovering for two weeks before he can return to the field so why do you see 8 weeks after returning to the field? I may be being optimistic, but I think he makes it back by May 1 or I should maybe I am hoping. This is your run of the mill 4-6 week deal and the season starts in 4 weeks so it may be sooner. Time to go say my prayers and eat my Wheaties!
