NY/First time experience!

Post by billywaz » Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:38 pm

As a first time member of the main event, I just wanted to chime in on my experience in NY this past weekend!

On Friday I helped with the $1,300 auction. Glenn Schroter (King of Queens) did an outstanding job as the auctioneer. The only disappointment of the evening was that there wasn't a bottle of scotch ANYWHERE near the room (those who were there no what I am talking about! ;) )

Saturday was an absolute blast! The draft was a great deal of fun. 30 rounds of action, talking with some old friends, and meeting many new ones. I will say, that strictly "fantasy baseball players" are not fans of fantasy football players. Didn't matter though, as this baseball thing just may end up sticking with me. :D

Finally, Tom Kessenich's hospitality was again TOP NOTCH. My only fear is that Tom may not be working at Krause Publications much longer, as the rumor is that he may pursue a new career as a "professional beer pong player". "THE CLOSER" (as he is now called in the Village) was certainly on his game Saturday night!

Great hooking up with all my "football buddies", and meeting some new "baseball only" people this past weekend!

Best of luck to everyone this season! :D

It was also my first weekend at the Main - and it will certainly not be my last.

Tom - thanks for you hospitality the entire weekend - enjoyed myself tremendously.

Mark (GG) thanks for the invite out Sat nite - I had a great time knocking back beers and talking baseball with you Billy, Diesel etc. - and yes Tom was the man at Beer Pong!!!

I was able to put some faces to the names on these boards as I met spyhunter and the King of Queens to name a few. Matt H, enjoyed meeting you - good luck this season. Couldn't have asked for better guys to draft beside than Mike and Bobby - hope I didn't steal too many of you guys Bobby - and Mike thanks for hanging around afterward. Louis - we didn't talk much after breakfast - but if I get stuck in any elevators - I hope they call you!

Now let the real fun begin!!!

Thanks guys. I'm glad you had a good time. I do think a career in beer pong might be in my future. :D We had a lot of fun and I hope everyone who attended had a good time. Now the hard work really begins for you guys.
