Great auction. Lots of great moments.
1. FUDD being my partner. He brought a lot of knowledge to the table. Early in the auction, he told me that I wasn't bidding on players that I didn't want. So FUDD told me that I needed to get involoved a bit more even with these players. So, Matt Kemp came out next, someone bid $30, so I bid $31 to get involved and we got stuck with him. We both looked at each other and busted up laughing.
2. My daughter, Paulina, bidding against owners. I was so proud of her. She wasn't intimidated with the draft. Thanks to everyone for being so nice to Paulina. She had the time of her life.
3. Another moment to remember...witnessing someone spending $5,000 to draft a team while enjoying 15 ice cold beers. There is only one thing worse than drinking 15 beers and that is losing to someone who drank 15 beers. Good Luck this year Kelly.
4. FUDD driving up to Las Vegas to help me with the auction. Then after the draft, take 12 NFBC owners out to a dinner. Class Act FUDD.
5. Team 13 spent $14 on his OF. I think we spent $150 on our OF.
Thanks again to everyone. It was a great day. Looking forward to the season.

Yes, Fudd is Da Man!! It was great meeting a lot of you (Terry, Shawn, Rick, Jim, etc.) That was some display by Kelly as I sat by him and got to witness it up close. He got a good team though.

I never drink,So I'm very disappointed in myself for doing that. If I said anything ugly or offended anyone, I'm sincerely sorry.

Kelly, you just added a storyline to the draft, nothing to worry about.
Most of the guys probably wouldn't have noticed if not for the line of empty bottles on the table. Hope you've recovered.

Kelly I saw a mild mannered guy in last years main event draft...I was not sure if they were speaking of the same person.
Don't worry...it's the spice of life!
"Now go out there and win one for the drinkers!"
We need these draft rules made for children re-written!

You do NOT want fantasy baseball to evolve into a bunch of scientist geeks and stat nerds intimidating the feel players out of the contest! (the only time in their lives the geeks crowd intimidated the jocks!)
Believe me...the baseball MB may be above reproach and seem educated...but it doesn't hold a candle to the fun had at a football draft.
That pretty much goes for home leagues and high stakes leagues everywhere!
Baseball fan = more smart and polite and nerdy!
Football fan = more hairy and stinky and fun!
Ouu-Ouu-Ahh-Ahh!!! (tequila!)

Thanks again to everyone. It was a great day. Looking forward to the season. I'm going to chime in on this thread on a couple of different fronts. I'll go down Jim's list first:
1. FUDD is a great guy and he hung around with all of our NFBC guys through Monday night and really fit it. This guy is a baseball fanatic and I know we'll find a way to get him in the NFBC in Las Vegas next year. I think he's going to dive into the online championship, but I took his signup on Monday in the sportsbook and I think I wrote it down on a losing ticket!!

Kimo, tell FUDD I need to get his contact info again because he was on the losing Orlando Magic ticket!!!
2. Paulina is the BEST!!!

Man, that girl knows her baseball, that's for sure. She did a great job with that Super Draft League team and I think she really enjoyed the thrill of the auction league. Between her, Jason Zeidman, Dom and others, I think we have a lot of future NFBC owners already on board.
3. It was 24 beers for Kelly, not 15. He cleaned 12 beers off his table before starting on the second round. Let's just say this is one of the reasons we limit the bar on the main event and instead go with drink tickets. you can always come to me for drink tickets on Saturday and I'll take care of you, but this is why we don't just leave it open free of charge for everyone. If one owner can go overboard in a $5,000 league, imagine how many owners we'd have like that on Saturday morning in Las Vegas.
4. I think FUDD even bought me a beer in the sportsbook. The wrong beer, but a cold one nonetheless!!
Great day, great weekend, great friends.

Kelly Kelly, you were fine and everyone had a GREAT time at the auction. You saw problems with speed and BA sooner than anyone else did and took a turn to correct it quicker than I might have. The turn behind you wasn't a good decision either.

But I know some guys have your projections solid and in the middle of the pack at worse, so finish strong and prove to one and all that you're one of the best.
And next year in the Auction, we'll move you to one of the corner spots, away from the back of the room.

That's the first lesson Fudd should know by now and that's Greg is a Corona man.Damn i was Mr. Corona myself this past weekend running in other leagues looking for coronas like a eagle attacking fish. The American league auction was out of coronas early so had to attack the other league's.Hmm Lance was in that draft i wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Have to admit, Ultimate Auction was a blast.
Think the whole room of 30-50+ yr old spreadsheet laden men dropped jaws when Paulina's clear voice shouted out a bid as she started to bid up players. Her excitement was tangible as she got into the flow.
Honestly, didn't notice Kelly was drinking. Couldn't see him behind the empty bottles to tell.
Was great meeting those of you I hadn't met before. Aloha!

Geez... Shandlers projections had me winning the league. He did use inflateed batting averages, maybe he thinks there going to hit more home runs to raise the average. Maybe I put down the wrong players.

Ill have to say that the Ultimate Auction was a blast as usual with everyone and their different stratigies. Kelly as far as i was concerned what else can you do while waiting for the other guys to spend money to catch up with your team than to sip on some suds and i dont think you bothered anyone . As far as Kelly's team the more i look at it the more it scares me, a solid core of hitters and pitchers, weak at some spots but nothing a couple good free agents cant fix. I thought you might have been struggling at the end but with Fowler and Burton at the end, that is pretty nice picking.

Great day, great weekend, great friends. I figured it out today and must have helped fill up the April 2nd 9PM Est league.
Sitting in on the Auction draft was the thrill of a lifetime. With-out a doubt the best Auction I've seen or been a part of from the Auctioneer to the girls counting the money and putting the boards together. The spread in the back with all you can drink is a nice touch as well. It was incredible. I don't see how I'll be able to pass up the Main Event next year. [/QB][/quote]
Welcome to the online championship league FUDD!!! You did fill that league up with your signup. Awesome and good luck.
Yeah, that Ultimate Auction League is the ULTIMATE!!! What a group. And let's admit that Brady is the best auctioneer we have and he really takes charge of that league. As I told him, the thing I like is that he gets the next player nominated shortly after the winning sticker is on the board and that keeps everyone on their toes and keeps things moving. You have to be ready and know what each player is going for if you're in this baby.
And Jan and Claire are the best sticker workers in the world!!! Am I right? Claire does a great job of not only putting the sticker on the big board but writing the dollar value and subtracting that from the total. And when we do money checks, there's never any discrepency. They keep up with Brady and never miss a beat.
What an auction. What fun.

That's the attitude Kelly!!! You'll be fine and I know that nobody will work harder during the season to get it done. Good luck man and join us at Margaritaville in September during our NFFC drafts. Zaleski is buying dinner for all of us.
