News reports state Stephen Drew underwent an ultrasound Thursday to determine the severity of his abdominal strain. The results are not yet officially available, but Drew was not in Friday's lineup and hasn't played since last Saturday.
However, we have received unconfirmed reports that a GPS device was implanted in Drew’s abdomen without his knowledge. Attached to the GPS device was a small, micro-inscribed plate. The inscription is reported to read:
“This GPS device and all the biological material it is attached to is the sole property of RedRyder. If the biological material is found, please return to Los Angeles. He will be well cared for.”
The Department of Homeland Security, the President of the National League, and Perry Van Hook, representing NFBC Security, are said to be investigating.

She's a Drew. Not good. Bummer, I had faith in Stephanie this season.
Over/Under, 125 games?

Stephanie IS pretty good, but I have a no-Drew in the single-digit rounds policy.

Heard it's a "bruised nut." Not good, but less severe(if possible) than an abdominal strain.

If she's Stephanie, JD has to be Nancy.

Oh, well, more cards to add to the shrine. Drew will be fine. I was just posting it as a joke.
Ryan, on the other hand, could be a problem worthy of shrines and libations to Jobu. I had the sorry SOB two years ago when the ever-truthful Bluejay GM said he was fine....burned me bad.

I also had BJ Ryan 2 years ago in the ultimate.
I heard he had a little pain in his back, yeah right frigging liar's.That pick hurt really bad as i took him in the 4th round.Funny since the 2007 draft the elite closers have dropped to the late 5th round and up into the 6th round.

i use to be a big believer in taking closers early, but over the past few years i backed away from it. then, in my main event league this year, that thought process went out the window. i was sitting there at 4.10, and was hoping i could get either victorino, brandon webb, or furcal. all 3 of those guys went, and Papelbon was sitting there. for some reason, i scrapped the plan, and took him. he's just such a stud. i couldn't resist. i came back at 5.6 and took Lidge. i figured i would lock up CL, and then not have to worry about it. both of those guys will K a considerable amount of people (approx 85, give or take a few), save 40+, have low era's and low whip's. might have been a crazy move, but i guess time will tell.

[/QUOTE]I am normally with you on not taking them too early or valuing them too high (to the point that I have left myself without two closers the last two years). However, this year, the "talent" that was generally going in the fifth round was not overly impressive (i.e. the guys I wanted I could get in the sixth or seventh if I wanted) and too me there seemed to be four clear frontrunners on the "Most Stable Closer of the Year Award", the fifth round seemed to me to be the round to get your closer/anchor.
Who knows? According to my roster, Brad Lidge is still available in one league! I am sure this is a roster error, but Brad Lidge is supposidely only owned/active in 97.1% of the leagues.

From the Toronto Globe and Mail.
Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said Friday that he is "not that concerned" with B.J. Ryan's dip in velocity. Ryan's fastball has barely reached 89 mph this spring, but Ricciardi is sticking with his guy. "I'll be concerned if it's in the middle of the season and he's not doing his job," said the GM. "But right now you have to keep watching him. He's the closer until something changes."
Sorry, BJ Ryan owners...if Ricciardi says he is ok, he is well and truly screwed.
