Plan For Making NFBC Payments

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Sep 21, 2004 3:55 am

Congratulations to everyone who is in the hunt for some prize money. This has been a very memorable debut NFBC season and we hope that all of you have enjoyed yourself during all 26 weeks of the season. We also hope you join us for the second season in 2005. We are already making plans for next season and will have several announcements soon. But mark down March 18 and 19 on your calendars now as those will be the Draft Days for the NFBC in New York, Chicago and Las Vegas.

Before we do that, however, we have to pay our winners from 2004. Checks are scheduled to go in the mail on Monday, October 3rd if there are no playoff games or Tuesday, October 4th if there are playoff games. However, we need two things before we can pay you: 1) Your social security number and 2) A signature on a W-9 form.

With that in mind, Krause Publications will send out forms to every owner who is in contention for prize money by next Monday, Sept. 27th. We will ask you to fax or mail copies back to us as soon as you can and we'll send out the winning checks to you once the season is over and once we have the W-9 forms back. Sound good?

We have always stated that we will pay out the prize money as soon as the season is finished and we will follow through on that plan. We are happy to pay out over $235,000 in prize money as all of the winners have earned their checks. Congratulations everyone and thanks again for supporting us in 2004.

Plan For Making NFBC Payments

Greg,

Not to cause problems, but why is a W2G being used, that is for gambling winnings which the Fed determined that fantasy sports is a game of skill. Shouldn't a 1099m be issued instead? There is a huge difference bewtween the 2 as far as writeoffs. Then again, I'm getting nothing, so it doesn't affect me. :(
Just rolling with the dice.

I will check with accounting and post a reply from them. You may in fact be correct. We'll make sure we have this right before next week and get the right forms to all of the winners.

Maybe next year, Phil!

We are sending out W-9 forms today to every NFBC member who is in the running for a monetary prize. Please make sure you provide your social security number and sign the form and then mail back the forms to us in the self-addressed stamped envelope we have provided. Checks will be sent out starting Monday, Oct. 4th once we've received these forms back. Thanks everyone.

You are correct Phil and we have taken appropriate action.
