Suggestions For 2005 NFBC

Post by Tom Kessenich » Wed Sep 22, 2004 3:12 am

There's no question in our minds the first year of the NFBC has been a huge success. It's been an exciting season, there are a bunch of great races in our league and for the overall grand prize and you guys have been terrific. I feel confident that I can speak for Greg when I say this event is going to get bigger and better in the future directly because of the passion and dedication you guys have displayed. We're pleased you have placed your trust with us and that is not something we take lightly.

With that in mind we want to make this event even better next year and in the years to come. In order to do that, we want to get your feedback. We want to know what you enjoyed about this year's event, what things you'd like to see us improve and how we can make this event better for all of you going forward.

We want to hear your thoughts and get your input and we will take your comments and use them as we make our plans for the 2005 NFBC in order for this event to remain the premier high-stakes event in the fantasy baseball industry. So please let us know what you think. You can do so by posting in this thread or you can contact us via e-mail ([email protected] for Greg and [email protected] for me).

So let us know what you think and what steps you'd like to see us take in order to make the NFBC even better.

Tweaks for putting in FAAB bids.

When checking a player's stats, how about a "Place Bid" or "Place Conditional Bid" button on the player's stat page to link directly with the Bid window so if you decide you want him in your bid chain you can get there from there without going back to the Player List.

More prominent "signage" on "Conditional" bid routine (especially the start of it) or even better the entire bid chain you're working on visible at all times as you develop it.

It's my understanding that Changing Dollar amounts on bids without reentering the entire chain is already in the works. That's a biggee.

I agree with Kevin's comments. However, switching gears a little, there's a couple things I'd like to see at the next draft. 1) Some refreshments. Maybe a hot dog stand and some cans of soda, etc. Nothing elaborate, just something available for those who want to partake. And, as many people have ponted out in the past, some way of not hearing the picks of the adjacent leagues. (This may be as simple as having the facilitators not speak so loudly!) Also, the draft board was hard to see. On some previous post, I read that it might be easier to have rows instead of a U shape so that everyone would be closer. I would favor this if everyone's privacy concerns were met.

I would really like to be able to set lineups twice a week, Mondays and Fridays. Gives us ability to manage a little better while not burdening ourselves with daily changes. Plus this helps with the numerous Monday injuries

The BB system does need to be easier and more flexible than its current form.

I agree with Phil but go Monday - Thursday.

Having done the row draft set up I much prefer the U setup we had. My only suggestion would be to shorten the legs of the U. It would be wider but the back row would be closer. Making the board and name tags bigger would also help. Just furnish a short step ladder for the facilitator and double the board size.

For the Auction Drafts I would like to see the bench size reduced to 3 or 4 so that there would be something available on waivers. If the benches were reduced to 3 or 4 I would like to be able to use my bench daily. Being able to replace injured players with someone from your own bench is something big league managers do all the time and should be available to fantasy managers as well. With only 3 or 4 bench people, streaming pitchers wouldn't really be an option.

We also need a time limit for nominating a player for auction and an appropriate penalty for failure to do so.

I would also like to see the auction drafts done earlier in the day. We miss out on the kickoff party.

A poker tournament after the draft would be nice.

A video highlight tape would be a nice keep sake and a great publicity tool for the following year. A lot of people may shy away not knowing what to expect, a few downloaded clips from a highlight reel on the website would give everyone interested a taste of what the draft is like.

Fewer Sharks and more Fish in Las Vegas ;)

The only problem wiht that is MLB usually have an off day on at least one of those days (Mon- Thursday). A Mon/Fri means your roster will have 3 games in each period. I know near the end of the season, teams will play 7 games a week, but the majority of the time tems play 6 games, so I was looking at evening out the weekly games.
