Rule change for 2009 NFFC and 2010 NFBC

I know I have spoken to Tom about this in the NFFC last year. It was in regards to some owners who were playing in the NFFC and were giving fictitious names because they did not want there picks to be known for following weeks WCOFF championship.
I rarely post but for some reason this seems to bother me. I understand that some would prefer to keep their picks under raps so those players selected do not jump up in adp or for those owners who do well for their so called underrated/sleepers not to be known.
I'm asking for a rule change that states anyone who signs up for an event whether it be online or live that the name listed shall be the name that the W-4 is sent to. And any finishes in the competititon be solely credited to that name for the lifetime standings unless listed as co-owner.
Once paid for the owner's name can not change.
I understand that anyone could pay for the online leagues but it would require extra work for that person to take care of any tax liability.
I'm starting to ramble but what it comes down to is why should some owners be anonymous and others not ? A clear cut rule would alleviate such a problem.

Usually, in order to get a rule change to go through, you have to offer a reason why you want it. What do you care what people list their names as? In fact, you only offer reasons why people *should* change their names. If you don't represent it as a problem, no one will see it as such.

From the movie, 'Young Abe Lincoln'-
If my name were Jack Cass, I would change it.
It's confused with a name near and dear to Walla Walla

I love arguments like this on this board....you can always tell who the people are who commit these "transgressions", because they are always the first to call the original poster out.
That said, while I understand the original poster's point and happen to agree with it, I also can understand why those who draft under an alias do so. They would be under a disadvantage if others followed their previous drafting patterns while drafting against them in a league they shared. While you can say the known successful player can do the same with those they draft against, I would doubt that they would utilize a new or unsuccessful player's draft patterns while setting their own. On the other hand, the new or unsuccessful player may and probably have adjusted theirs.
From this one man's point of view, I don't think its that important either way....just giving my thoughts.

[/QUOTE]I think where Eddy is going with this is that it gives drafters who change their name a potential advantage of researching their competition and guessing who their competition might want and where when drafting. This was relevant in the online championship as main event results were viewable while the OC was taking place. Unless those that didn't change their name decided to do so (which is inconvenient and silly), they could be exposed and not have the same chance to research those teams that changed their names. Does it make a difference? Those that change their names would be the first to argue it does not, but if that's the case then why do they feel the need to change their name or hide under an alias? John, don't get all riled up about the tax man, I think the example was given as a way to make players abide by his suggested rule change. Big brother is not chasing you here.
I'm not sure what the consensus is, but there have been several players grumbling about this over the past few weeks. Seems the easiest route would be to ditch the disguises. I'm not sure it would hurt or hinder anyone. Childs has always been an easy name to find, and I don't think anonymity would have improved his already stellar results too much.

i understand what you're saying, but there's guys that play in multple leagues. why do they do this? is it for the challenge? is it for the money? is it for fame? or is it for all of the aforementioned?
bottom line, who or why are we to dictate how they enjoy the experience. high stakes fantasy is what it is. i'm sorry, but if i can't beat the best at their own game, then maybe i'm not worthy. but then again, i'll try again next year.

Greg knows who is who.
The NFBC claims to enjoy transparency.
I understand doing the anonymous thing pre-completing all drafts.
Now that the drafting season is over, the principal owners name should be listed.
Otherwise why even list them in the first place?
Change your team name as much as you want. Knock yourself out!

Prior to the Main Event, I drafted in a Satellite league against someone who used an alias and then was in my Main Event league. That person's name was revealed in the satellite league AFTER the Main Event. Do I think he "stole" any of my "secret" picks for the Main Event? No. Do I feel like he had a strategic advantage over me during the Main Event? I don't think so. Would I have known it was the same guy if he kept the alias the entire season? No. Did I think it was a little cheesy? Yes. JMO. If the name on the credit card doesn't have to match the name on the team, then maybe I'll use an alias next year, too, just to stay under the radar.

I really wanted this thread to get bumped down...and I apologize to those it irked and apologize to those who it fueled the fire for. I could care less about what goes on usually. For me The NFBC and the NFFC are the cream of the crop and I enjoy playing.
I rarely post but for some reason this alias stuff really bothered me. Why ? could be alot of reasons but mainly because I like to get an edge and whether it be getting the results from another party on their draft to be used for my advantage so be it. Not that I'm any kinda of upper echelon player ( I feel I hold my own) but I like to know my competition and their draft strategy which will help me fine tune mine..
So what I am saying is basically I'm the person that these owners are trying to hide from. I can respect that. I would like this thread to die off in obscurity and stick to managing my team instead of worrying about others.
I basically broke one of my own rules in life.... the minute you worry about others you truly are worried about yourself.
I hope everyone has a good season...good luck.

Absolutely nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, Eddy. You needn't apologize for anything. Have you seen some of the garbage on these boards? The NFBC has thousands of members and only a select few post on the boards. Personally I'd like to see more members input, so make those posts a little less rare, will ya? No matter what you say you're bound to rile someone's feathers. This is a thick skinned competition. No worries!
