Well, since he cost me the win...I hope he eats a homer right now.

I like to call him the "Setup guy" pitching for the Cubs with soon to be "Closer issues" . See the box score.

Oh come on, do I have to break down the game? You know what happened.

Marmol came in in the 7th to get them out of a jam. In the 8th Cubs got a couple of guys on and the pitcher's spot was on deck. So Pinella pulled Marmol in favor of Miles hoping to score another run or two. It didn't work as Miles grounded into DP. Marmol would have come out for the 8th otherwise. Gregg came in the 9th and you know the rest? Gregg is not in Marmol's class, but I'm sure you have read that already?

I know it hurts "being a Gregg" I know, I have Motte, but we all suffer now and then... ;)

Marmol is quite possibly the best 8th in guy in the league... Pinella is smart enough to know that the 8th inning guy is just as valuable if not more valuable than the "closer"... Marmol stays in the 8th inning even if Gregg hits the DL this year or implodes...

That's part of his value to Sweet Lou, he can pitch those 2 important innings.

[/QUOTE]Ouch - who did Pinella pick to close out tonight when Braun and Fielder were up? Marmol, k'd em both to get the save. Gregg's days as CL are numbered, and that number might be zero.
