does anyone else out there think a-rod was not as injured as made out,,,that this was just a way to move him and the steroid circus away from the team and let them go about the biz of baseball?

There is a reason why 'the grassy knoll' is still the first place visitors want to see when going to Dallas.

A-Rod was hurt--even for him, undergoing surgery to divert the focus from a steroids scandal would be overboard--but I think he could have played through the injury. We saw Mike Lowell and Chase Utley persevere through the ailment, albeit with somewhat diminished results.



I think A-Rod was worried (a) about the obvious media scrutiny and (b) that the injury would limit him to the point where he could not "prove" how great he is without PEDs. Talk about a blow to his fragile ego.



He seems to be of the delusional mindset that cheating was wrong because it illegitimizes his past accomplishments ("A-Rod is great! Or is he?"), rather than cheating was wrong because it is unethical ("A-Rod is a glamour boy, but at least he has the character not to cheat. Nevermind, he cheats, too."). He can work to disprove the first notion but not the second.
