Good News For Las Vegas NFBC In 2010

Today we just signed and faxed over our contract with the Flamingo for the NFBC in 2010. I did this because we had a good meeting with them after this year's event and they made some concessions for us that should benefit all parties involved.
Nobody is sure what the economy is going to look like a year from now, but the Flamingo went out of their way to offer us a room block of GO rooms for $109 per night Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during March Madness. That just seemed too good to turn down and if the economy picks up we have great rooms at a really great price. If they become discounted even more, well, then take the discounts!! I won't mind.
The Sunset Ballroom is 20,000 square feet and allows us to grow the main event in Las Vegas, which I think will happen with Florida no longer being a draft site. We again have the five upstairs rooms on Sunday for our Ultimate and Super draft leagues and on Friday we have five separate 1,400 square foot rooms for the auction leagues, which is great. The only difference is that the Friday events are downstairs because the Laughlin and Reno rooms were booked already.
Even in a down economy, I was shocked by how many Vegas hotels had their big ballrooms booked for March 2010. While it seems like we have a lot of options, honestly when you are looking for 20,000 or more square feet of meeting room space for our main event we really are limited to 7-8 Vegas venues. So I'm happy to have this contract out of the way, but more importantly we have a great room rate that everyone can budget for.
Now you have 11 months to find a good flight to add to $109 per night. That sure beats parking and hotels in some of our other cities!!!
Come join me in Vegas next year because we are back at the Flamingo and back with a really good price. I hope the economy really bounces back and if it does, those folks who get our pink GO rooms will be MIGHTY HAPPY!!!
Enjoy 2009 and I'll see ya March 18-21 at the Flamingo.
