Who Is Coming To The 2005 NFBC And Where?

Post by viper » Thu Mar 03, 2005 1:09 am

Greg, your posts here say 281 team but your other thread naming participants by city show 282. One or the other must be wrong. That other thread shows

Vegas = 128

NYC = 98

Chicago =56

Who Is Coming To The 2005 NFBC And Where?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 03, 2005 2:42 am

Yeah, Cellar Dwellers, it was a long night last night!!! I was trying to take signups while competing in an NL-only online experts league auction. I got Carlos Beltran, but screwed up the announcement of that signup! He's definitely coming to New York and it's fixed now. Thanks for the catch.

As for the discrepency on the total, I have one more listing in Las Vegas than I am counting on the overall total because one original signup is "iffy" now. He has a tentative spot until we near 300 and then he either needs to definitely say yes or that spot will be sold.

Okay, we have a good shot at closing out our 19th full NFBC league today as we're now at 282 total signups thanks to the addition of another new member to the growing NFBC family. Let's welcome David Alfaro of Riverside, California, who has signed up to compete at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 19th. David is new to our family of high-stakes events and he will be drafting solo during the main event. We now have 129 Las Vegas signups for the big dance -- leaving us with six open spots -- and 282 overall. We need three more for a full league and 18 more to close out our 2005 event. Thanks for your trust and support, David, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Okay, we're making a little progress on the auction leagues in New York, so let's keep it going. Our latest new member to the growing NFBC family is Steve Lerner of Poughkeepsie, New York, who has signed up to compete in the NL Auction League ($650 entry fee) at the New York Hilton on Friday morning, March 18th. We now have five signups for the NL Auction League in New York (six counting Anthony Powell who wants to do a $1,250 league), so we're almost halfway there to our goal of 12 NL owners. Let's keep the signups coming and fill that league up. Thanks for your trust and support, Steve, and best of luck in the hunt for the $3,750 first place prize.

Herb Eroh is already signed up for the NFBC's main event in Las Vegas, but today he decided to add to his weekend of fun by including an entry in the $1,250 NL Auction League at the Rio Hotel & Casino on Friday, March 18th. Herb becomes the 23rd owner to show an interest in that league, so we're on our way to creating a second $1,250 league. If we can get three more entries for that one, we'll close out this high-stakes auction league. Thanks Herb and best of luck in the hunt for the $7,500 first place prize.

Okay, I have a little juggling to do this morning, but it's all good. Anthony Powell and Mike Matthews of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had originally signed up for the $1,250 NL Auction League in New York, but they remained the only team entry for that one and they could see the handwriting on the wall. So today they have changed their entry to the main event on Saturday, March 19th at the New York Hilton as they become our 99th team in New York and 283rd overall. That leaves us with 17 spots for the main event as of today. Thanks guys for sticking with us and we wish you best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize. Next year hopefully we can get you in both and form an NL-only auction league in New York.

Scott Tilley of Georgia has also decided to switch his entry in the NL Auction League in Las Vegas from $650 to $1,250. We now have 25 owners who would be willing to compete in the $1,250 NL Auction League, leaving us with one open spot there. However, I feel bad right now because our $650 NL Auction League appeared full a few weeks ago and now we're back to scrambling for owners to fill that one. We'll see how this plays out and if any of those owners want to switch to the $1,250 NL Auction League, please contact me immediately. We'll fill those two $1,250 leagues ASAP, form the separate leagues and pick nomination spots/reserve round order first thing next week. Then I'll work like crazy to try and fill the final spots for that $650 NL Auction League. Thanks Scott and this time best of luck in the hunt for the $7,500 first place prize.

We now have an even 100 owners in the NFBC's main event in New York thanks to the arrival of our 151st returning member from 2004. Let's give it up for Justin Esposito, who teamed with Dave Cushard last year to win New York League 5. Justin's dad, Joe, and brother, Daniel, also had a team in Chicago League 3 last year and this year the family will team up for a team at the New York Hilton. We're glad to have all of the returning members back as we now have 284 signups for the main event, one away from our 19th full league. That leaves us with 16 spots left for the big event. Thanks Justin, Joe and Daniel for the trust and support again and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Okay, with Dave Cushard moving over to the $1,250 NL Auction League, we now have 26 owners for that event in Las Vegas. Let me contact all of those $650 guys who said they'd move over to $1,250 soon and finalize those two leagues. We now have 26 for the Friday 9 a.m. $1,250 NL Auction Leagues and several spots open for the $650 NL Auction League. Let's get working and fill up that $650 league as well so that we can have three NL Auction Leagues going at once. Should be fun.

I can officially confirm that our NFFC champ -- Gordon Gekko -- will be joining us once again for baseball and will be competing in Chicago. His name, however, remains a closely guarded secret. It's so closely guarded I don't even know what it is.

I will be in Chicago, though, so if you're coming there too we'll all find out together.

I'm thinking the reason that Gekko is sneaking into Chicago nameless is that if word got out what league he was in, then everyone would fight and scratch to join that league because there would only be 13 serious competitors.

I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance the morning of the big draft, I’ll get up nice and early, have breakfast, check the Internet for breaking news, and take a walk down to the draft room

after the draft is over, I’ll let the season play out and win the 100K (made up of your money) and uh... I’ll do it again next year…

That's my business. That's what I do.

We've added another new auction league participant to our Las Vegas event as Roy T. Davis of Council Grove, Kansas has agreed to participate in the $650 Mixed Auction League at the Rio on Friday, March 18th. We now have 24 owners for that Mixed Auction League, leavingus with six open spots in that second league. Let's fill 'er up. Thanks R.T. for joining our group and best of luck in the hunt for the $4,250 first place prize.

We have officially filled up our 19th NFBC league thanks to the return of our 152nd team from the 2004 event. Rob Conti of New York will return again to the NFBC's main event at the New York Hilton on Saturday, March 19th, giving us 101 owners in New York and 285 overall. We now have room for four more owners in New York, four in Chicago and six in Las Vegas to finish with perfect numbers in each city. Amazing. Team Conti finished eighth in New York League 5 last year with 81 points and he also competed in our National Fantasy Football Championship event in the fall. Thanks for your trust and support, Rob, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We begin our 20th league in the NFBC's main event with the online signup of Sean Brinlee of Monrovia, California. Sean is new to our family of high-stakes events as he will be drafting at the Rio Hotel & Casino on Saturday, March 19th. That gives us 129 official owners in Las Vegas and 286 overall. Like I said above, that leaves us with four open spots in New York, four in Chicago and six in Las Vegas for perfect leagues in each city. Thanks for your trust and support, Sean, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize. First beer is on me in Las Vegas.

Let's welcome another new member to our growing NFBC family as Tim Miller of Chicago, Illinois has just signed up for the NFBC's NL Auction League ($650 entry) in Chicago. We now have five owners for that event in Chicago and have room for eight more. Tim is new to our family of high-stakes events and we welcome him to the gang. We'll do our best to fill that one up, Tim, and when we do good luck in the hunt for the $3,750 first place prize.

Okay, I'm back from Phoenix and ready to fill up the NFBC's main event early this week. Let's get right to the signups as we're close to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Let's welcome back our 153rd owner from the 2004 NFBC main event to our 2005 contest as Brant Goldsmith of New York City will claim home field advantage in New York. Brant's Team Summit competed in New York League 5, but finished out of the money with 56.5 points. Brant and co-manager Mike Botts are determined to finish better this year as they return to the New York Hilton on Saturday, March 19th. We now have 102 owners in New York and 287 overall, leaving us with three open spots in New York and 13 overall. Thanks for your trust and support, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

The interest continues in New York as we welcome our newest member to the growing NFBC family. Let's give it up for the tag team of Stephen Ranaghan and Geoff Sullivan of Winchester, Massachusetts, who will be drafting in the NFBC's main event at the New York Hilton on Saturday, March 19th. Stephen had a prior engagement for the 19th (okay, he has to attend a wedding), but Stephen and Geoff will be able to pull off the draft and manage this team all year long despite the wedding bells. Thanks for your trust and support, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

This signup brings us to 103 New York signups for the main event and 288 overall! That means we have 12 spots left in the main event! Bring those last ones on!

Yoni Bornstein of Thornhill, Ontario, Canada is one of 15 members competing in the NFBC Ultimate Auction League on Sunday, March 20th and now he's added the Mixed Auction League on Friday, March 18th at the New York Hilton to his weekend of fun. Yoni becomes the eighth owner to sign up for that event, leaving us with seven open spots in New York. C'mon, let's fill this one up and have some fun with the debut $650 entry fee league. Thanks Yoni for your trust and support again and best of luck in the hunt for the $4,250 first place prize.
