Keep in mind that being anglo-saxon, some of these names just sound strange to me. If they have a deep meaning or stories behind the names, that's all well and good, I'm just going for the sounds. I've left off japanese names, they all sound funny.
1. Prince- Why not King, Cecil? No wonder the kid doesen't talk to you.
2. Ubaldo- Keep the letter U out of the names book
3. Khalil- Silent letters do not belong in names
4. Dexter- Great... if he was a computer geek or librarian
5. Nyger- So glad this kid didn't grow up in America during the 60's
6. Chone- I thought Newt would have been a clever name for him
7. Adrian- Teammates always rent Rocky
8. Cla- Mom? Dad? You couldn't seal the deal?
9. Yusmeiro- I can see teammates yelling, "Hey Youz!"
10. Asdrubal- Insert joke here
Did I miss any?

Curacao Baseball Players' Names:
1) The language spoken on Curacao (Papiamentu) has no written history. So you'll see the island's name writen on island signs as "Curacao", "Corsou", Corsow", "Korsou", "Korsow" etc. They all refer to the same place. I wish I grew up in Curacao's Papiamentu schools -- no spelling tests.
So "Andruw" Jones and "Wladimir" Balentien are phonetic spellings in Papiamentu. "V" pronounces like "F", so if they spelled it "Vladimir" it would come out like "Fladimir"... not what his folks wanted.
2) Many Curacao couples give their babies unique names, mixing and matching a few letters from the father's name and mother's name. (Shairon Martis.) This is done so the child will always remember who his family is and remember the parents' love. In my years there I met a Rudsel, a Vidion, a Jodrey, a Gera, a Rujitza and an Illiane, all one-of-a-kind I think. Oh, and Jair Jurrjens struck me out when he was 17.
3) Players from Curacao and the neighbouring islands who have more regular first names are much more likely to be fantasy poison. (Randall Simon, Sidney Ponson...)
