An Open Letter to the Steinbrenners (just a rant)

Dear George, Hal,Hank, Jennifer and Joan:
Since the Sunday night game was rained out and its a little slow on TV, I tohught that I would share my recent experience at the new Yankee Stadium with you.
As a Yankees fan for forty years, I was excited and thrilled to take my son to the Stadium Saturday for our annual opening-series road trip.
I was almost paranoid as I made my way across the GW Bridge in record time and was anticipating getting to the new YS with ample time to tour Monument Park, check out the great hall, sample the food court and take pictures. I had to check my tickets twice to make sure I hadn't misread the starting time.
We pulled up to the Stadium before 2:30pm. By the time we were redirected and detoured by NYPD and event personel, the only thing we ended up touring was most of the Bronx.
As we parked and got out of the car, we could hear the National Anthem being played from the garage.
Needless to say it took longer to park the car than it did for the Indians to put up 13 runs!
The highlight of the inning was the fight that broke out in the section above us. I think they got more hits than the Yanks did.
The person I felt most sorry for was the Yankee right fielder. It must have been extremely difficult to keep a straight face with 50,000 people all chanting "We-want-Swish-er" in unison.
I think keeping his glove over his face helped.
We started taking bets to see who's ERA was going to be higher, Wang or Claggett. At first the scoreboard couldn't post Claggett's because there was no acomodation for and ERA of infinity (something you may want to consider adjusting for.)
As the game continued to spiral out of control, I decided to be a little selfish and root for Mark DeRosa, as I have him on my fantasy team. (But you'll be happy to know that after going 3-4 with a homer and 6 RBI, I did encourage Eric Wedge to take him out).
Even with the trails and tribulations of yesterday's fiasco, my son is still looking forward to the Orioles game in May that we hold tickets for. And don't worry, we don't have any Orioles on our fantasy team.........
...............but I did start Carl Pavano today.
Sincerly,
A loyal fan
