Lopi Asch Is Week 2 NFBC Winner

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Apr 20, 2009 5:48 am

Congratulations to Lopi Asch, whose Nasta, Bromma Plan team in Orlando League 1 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,401.5 points.

A big week from Carlos Pena (.333-4-12) led the way offensively. Mike Lowell (.364-1-7), Ian Kinsler (.556-2-6-6) and Torii Hunter (.381-1-6) also had big weeks at the plate. Zach Greinke and Wandy Rodgriguez combined for three wins and 29 Ks to lead the pitching while Francisco Cordero had three saves.

Congratulations again to Lopi and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

Lopi Asch Is Week 2 NFBC Winner

It was one of those weeks where Lopi Asch couldn’t ask for anything more. The offense was terrific and the pitching came through nicely. It was the perfect combination.

And it was better than any other team in the NFBC.

A big week from Carlos Pena (.333-4-12) led the way offensively. Mike Lowell (.364-1-7), Ian Kinsler (.556-2-6-6) and Torii Hunter (.381-1-6) also had big weeks at the plate as Asch’s Nasta, Bromma Plan team in Orlando League 1 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,401.5 points. Zach Greinke and Wandy Rodgriguez combined for three wins and 29 Ks to lead the pitching while Francisco Cordero had three saves.

“I’m excited to have a won a week finally,” Asch said. “It took four years. It feels great.

“Draft strategy wise we just try to get guys we believe in. We want to generally get safe reliable guys in the first few rounds and then focus on value, balance, and upside opportunity. We focused on outfield a bit extra this year as we felt there was a decent size gap between the stratas.”

Lopi and his father Steve run the team. Lopi lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. while Steve resides in Coral Gables, FL.

“We have been in the NFBC for four years and love it,” Lopi said. “You guys rule. We have been playing fantasy baseball for 25 years together. We remember when you had to call in to get your standings, and that call was placed from a landline by the way. We love it for so many reasons. Mainly though it gives us time together around something we love as much as baseball. It’s the best.”
