Do you prefer season 1 or 2? ummm...ok not funny.
D Fowler has 5 stolen bases tonight and the game is only in the 6th inning. Although it's only April, give the rookie credit. He's hitting well and has 9 stolen bases.

He would have made a nice late draft pick.
I replaced Gerut with Fowler this week and Gerut broke an 0-13 streak with a 3-5 homerun day. Of course, doeesn't compare to 2-2 with 3 runs and 5 stolen bases.
This should give Fowler more consistent at-bats and a very bright green light on the basepaths from here on out. When I first saw 5 stolen bases by the 6th inning I thought for sure it was an error. He's gonna make pitchers very nervous while he's getting his lead from first base. You might see a few pitchouts while he's on base, that's for sure.

I couldn't believe how tall he was. He is 6'4". When he fills out, he is going to have some power, too. If he keeps his speed, wow.

After last night's game, Nick Hundley has a suggestion for Bud Black, "How 'bout you make Henry Blanco Chris Young's personal catcher!"

ya- for those that actually watch the games- fowler is fast but that is a young/hundley problem. young takes forever to get it to the plate with men on. to me it is just plain lazy on the part of the ballplayers and dumb on the manager if they don't steal on this tandem. fowler is fast, smart, and interested- a rare combo in sports.

Fowler is a legit prospect, but will most likely only be a speed guy with good BA and OBP at the top of the Rockies lineup, even though I hear so many people hyping him to be a 30/50 guy. I watched him a lot in the minors and he is NOT a very smart baserunner and not a power guy. He has raw speed, but last night will not be the norm. I drafted him in the Main Event (29th round) hoping for some cheap speed, but as good of a prospect as he is, he has never hit many HRs. Even after he fills out, he might get 15-20 HRs in Colorado. Just my opinion.

Agree....was watching the game and feel like I could've stolen a few. The getting on base part, well that's a different story.

Wow, just read an article about Young. He's had 131 stolen bases off of him, with only 13 runners being thrown out.
Since the beginning of the 07 season, opposing runners are 73 out of 75 in their attempts. I'm sure it was well known, but after last night, I'm guessing teams will run even more on him this season. FYI: the Rockies didn't attempt a steal after Young left the game.

Yeah, I'm not sure Hundley is part of the problem or if it's all on C Young. I owned him in 2007 and seemed like he always had baserunners stealing against him. He also seemed to always have a high # of pitches/inn and could rarely work deep into games limiting his wins. Sure, he's never had a ton of offensive support in SD, but I don't think he's ever been a 14-15 game winner (could be wrong since I'm too lazy to look it up).
Back to Fowler, I'm not sure how much everyone is expecting but even if he only hits 8-10 HR, throw in 20-25 steals, and a .270 avg with upside for more is not a bad player to have as a 4th or 5th OF (or utility player).
If Fowler faces Young 3 more times this season, you could be looking at another 15 steals.

fowler is batting 1st in colorado. he will score 100 runs and steal 30 at least. that has plenty of value. young= sf, colo and la. lots of sb's there. i will be interested to see if arizona wises up and takes walks and steals on him. they have 2 guys that seem motivated to steal in reynolds and lopez- but the others - especially young -need to be told- go steal.
