Having a dumpy catcher really sucks as you feel like you are getting lapped by everyone else. Having TWO dumpy catchers is among the worst feelings one can have when selecting their starting lineups on Mondays.
With Posada now out of action a month or two, the catcher ranks really reek:
*McCann basically out of action or ineffective the whole season!
*Doumit out for months!
*Posada out for what could be a couple months!
*Soto is just a SNAFU this year. Likely hurt but trying to play through it.
*Johjima recently back from injury!
*Mauer out of action the whole season (until this week). However, back injuries for a catcher are like hamstring injuries for a sprinter. If you are a Mauer owner you need to keep that insurance catcher on your bench (at least I would), esp with how thin the FAAB pool is with catchers!
*Wieters demoted (and has been plagued by hamstring injury)!
*Schneider hurt!
Bad, bad year to be a catcher…
