$650 Auction Leagues In 2005
We will definitely offer two forms of Rotisserie Auction Leagues in 2005: $1,250 entry fee AL-only and NL-only leagues and $650 entry fee AL-only and NL-only leagues. If we can fill full leagues in each city, we will host one set of Auction Leagues in the morning and one set of Auction Leagues in the afternoon on Friday, March 18th.
Here is the prize structure for the $650 leagues, which is also listed under the Prizes link:
Auction Leagues Prize Structure ($650 Entry Fee) 12-Team AL-Only Leagues:
1st Place: $3,500
2nd Place: $1,300
3rd Place: $1,050
13-Team NL-Only Leagues:
1st Place: $3,800
2nd Place: $1,400
3rd Place: $1,100
Here is the proposed Schedule of Events, with the times tentative. I am seeking input on the starting times from the participants as some guys have asked to do both leagues and want time inbetween to eat and catch a breath.
Friday, March 18th:
9 or 10 a.m. in each city
NL-only Auction Leagues (Las Vegas, New York)
AL-only Auction League (Chicago)
4 or 5 p.m. in each city
AL-only Auction Leagues (Las Vegas, New York)
NL-only Auction League (Chicago)
I don't have a Mixed Auction League planned, but if there is enough interest in any of the cities I will plan accordingly. Remember that the $1,250 entry fee Auction Leagues and the $650 entry fee Auction Leagues will draft at the same time in adjoining rooms. I am confident that we will have multiple Auction Leagues in Las Vegas and possibly New York under the revised format.
Right now the Registration form does not have an area where you can sign up for the $650 Auction Leagues, but we will add that shortly. If you want to reserve a spot, contact me at [email protected] or hang tight until we add that. We will not process anyone's credit card until Feb. 1, so feel free to sign up and not worry about the payment for another 3+ months. Thanks and good luck everyone.

What??? No return to Las Vegas for Gekko? If you had fun in September, imagine the fun you'd have in Las Vegas during the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. It really is Sin City in March!
But we'll take you back in New York in March and expect a return engagement to Las Vegas in September with your partner!
Start a thread on the Mixed Auction League and see what kind of interest we have. I'm not against doing it, but I need to see the interest before putting the league size and the rest in stone. There's time to get this done.

I'd love to do an auction league, including a mixed league auction for $650, in Chicago. That would be ideal. I've never done an Auction league, wanted to do one last year, but there was not enough interest in Chicago. I haven't signed up for the 2005 NFBC yet, because i'd like to keep expenses as low as possible by going to Chicago, going to Vegas is a consideration to ensure an Auction League option, however, going to Vegas will EASILY add over $1000 to our expenses, so, its like the REAL cost for doing a Vegas Auction League could be over 2 grand when the marginal expense is considered, a big price tag to just 'get your feet wet'. Greg, any feel yet for the interest in Auction Leagues in Chicago? I'm hoping enough people will sign up in Chicago so i can do both Auction Leagues there, but i haven't seen any signups there yet for an Auction.

Yeah, Greg, I hear ya on getting the Auction Leagues going. Chicago will be tough as you know, but I plan on promoting stronger in Chicago and have already inquired about getting a booth at CubsFest and SoxFest in January. I will do everything I can to get at least one Auction League going in Chicago, whether that be an NL-only or Mixed League. I think we have a shot in Chicago, but I can't guarantee anything.
We'll definitely have at least one Auction League in Las Vegas and maybe a couple of the $650 variety, but I feel your pain on the expenses. That's tough. I'll keep you up to date on Chicago, but you probably know that we won't have a strong feel for the Auction Leagues there until after January.
We'll see you somewhere in March and hopefully in a place where you can compete in the main event and the Auction Leagues.

Yes, it was Rick Thomas' idea to stagger the starting times of the Auction Leagues so that more people could do both. I'm glad to see he has signed up for both and is rejoining us in Las Vegas to participate in the main event. I'll give him a more formal welcome elsewhere, but thanks for the idea Rick and thanks for the loyalty. Now let's start filling up those $650 Auction Leagues in Las Vegas.

According to other posts by Greg both NL auctions will be at the same time, that way those that want to do both AL and NL can.

I believe we will start both NL Auction Leagues at 9 a.m., although it could be 10 a.m. I'm still working on all of that. Then we'll start the $1,250 and $650 AL Auction Leagues at 4 p.m. I'll have more definitive details coming soon and I have a possible Auction League rule change that I'll post in a few minutes. Let me know what you think of it when you see it.

Oh, one more thing: I apologize that the $650 Auction Leagues haven't been added to the registration pages yet. We're working on that now and should have that done in a day or two. We're adding $650 Auction Leagues for the AL, NL and Mixed Leagues in each city. We'll see what type of interest we get for each and how many leagues we'll have in each city. If there is interest in a mixed auction league, we'll plan on doing that on Friday, March 18th during the same time as one of the other league auctions, likely the later one. But we'll play that one according to the interest we get.
I'll make a formal announcement when the registration pages with the $650 Auction Leagues are finished.
