What about Crawford who is on pace for over 100 steals a strong bavg 320, and plenty of runs maybe 120.

If we take the "on pace" farther, why would someone waste a top 5 pick on a Judy? He's on pace for five home runs. ;)

[/QUOTE]I would. If this particular Judy hits over .300, scores over 100 runs, and steals a 100 bases then that enables me to focus on power the rest of the draft.

Who was the last player to get 100 sb's?

Ricky? Vince Coleman? Tim Raines?

As a kid I remember Ron LeFlore & Omar Moreno....talk about speed demons!

Ricky? Vince Coleman? Tim Raines? It was Vince Coleman, each year in 1985, 86 and 87

From Wilkpedia, so take with a grain of salt:

In 1974, Washington was tapped by Oakland owner Charlie Finley to become the A's "designated runner." Despite having no professional baseball experience, and having last played baseball in high school, Washington was a member of the Athletics 1974 World Series championship team. His major league debut was on April 4, 1974 against the Texas Rangers.

Appearing as a pinch-runner for Joe Rudi in game two of the 1974 World Series, Washington was picked off first base in a crucial ninth-inning situation by Dodgers' reliever Mike Marshall.

Washington played in 105 major league games without batting, pitching, or fielding, playing exclusively as a pinch runner. He had 31 stolen bases in 48 attempts and scored 33 runs during his short career, numbers which were relatively low considering his great speed. He was released one month into the 1975 season.

Washington's 1975 Topps baseball card is the only baseball card ever released that uses the "pinch runner" position label.

Just curious. What is the rule for running out a home run? In the old movies about Babe Ruth's last game, he knocked out 3 home runs and after he touched first base on the 1st two, he was replaced by a pinch runner. (He famously ran out the 3rd homer and retired).

Is a pinch runner allowed to run out a homer from 1st to home without replacing the hitter? Would the Babe still be entitled to a R if he never touched home plate? Is this move fiction or some obscure rule?

Is this move fiction or some obscure rule? The Babe ran out all of his homers. Heck, he looked forward to it. No, a pinch runner cannot be summoned to run out a home run. If the hitter doesen't touch a base, it is an appeal play. The defense would have to appeal the missed base, much like a runner leaving too early tagging up. I believe the only time a runner would not have to touch all the bases is with fan interference as in Chris Chambliss home run for the Yanks. Even if he missed a base due to the fans, he would still be awarded a home run.

One man's opinion on the best and worst guys by draft pick so far...(Wish I had an ADP report)

Catcher

Worst

Brian McCann (third round)- Just noses out Giovanni Soto (four/five turn) and Russell Martin (three/four turn) because of cost (earliest pick) and length of non-production, but Martin may be the most frustrating to own right now, since at least McCann and Soto can partially blame injuries. Martin has just sucked.

Best (cost you late pick)

Kurt Suzuki - Wins a close race with John Baker, Jesus Flores, Pudge Rodriguez, and Jason Varitek.

1B

Worst

Mark Texiera (1st rounder) hitting under the Mendoza Line. He beats out Lance Berkman (early second) and Derrick Lee (6/7).

Best

Todd Helton - career resurgence by Helton puts him over Paul Konerko (pre-Helton), Hank Blalock, and Nick Johnson ...

2B

Worst

Alexi Ramirez (third). Equally sucky is Dan Uggla (around fifth), but Ramirez gets the nod for sucking at two positions, whereas Uggla has only sucks at one.

Best

Aaron Hill (late) has been a machine this year so far, easily out distancing Orlando Hudson, Mike Fontenot, and Asdrubal Cabrera..

SS

Worst

Jimmy Rollins (First) has a name and a price which gives him this spot over Troy Tulowitzki (fifth) and Rafael Furcal (fourth)...

Best

Jason Bartlett has hit over .340, putting him past Elvis Andrus (earlier) here...

3B

Worst

Alex Gordon (eighth) didn't hit early, then got hurt for 3-4 months, meaning he hasn't done anything for the price, which makes him worse than Garret Atkins (sixth), who cost a little more and did a very little more...

Best

Longoria (moves into top 5) then Scott Rolen wins a tough call over Mark Reynolds and Marco Scutaro here because he was taken later...

OF

Worst

BJ Upton (first turn) hasn't hit a homer or come close to .200 all year, Magglio Ordonez (fifth) has become a .230 singles hitter, and Matt Holliday (first turn) is looking more like a Coors-product.. They beat out as a starting OF the likes of Manny Ramirez (second turn for a 50 game suspension), Grady Sizemore (.240 isn't gonna justify a top 7 price tag), Alex Rios (early third) who hasn't done much of anything, Josh Hamilton (late first) has been slowed by injury, as has Vlad Guerrero (third turn).

Best

Coco Crisp, Nick Swisher gives you two positions for the cost of less than one, and Michael Bourne has started to show a little game as well. You can also toss Mark Teahan (25th +) into this mix too...

Sp

Worst

Brandon Webb (early fourth) got rocked, got hurt, and sat out. CC Sabathia (third) has been a huge (pun intended for the Fat One) disappointment, Cole Hamels (early fifth) and Josh Beckett (fifth) are post-season heroes who have sucked this year, and Ervin Santana (dropped at draft till 9th round?) makes the list for taking so damn long to recover. Add Francisco Liriano (fifth), who hasn't pitched like anything more than a number 3 for years to the staff as well...

Best

Lots to choose from here, with my top after Grienke (late 7th) picks being Mark Buehrle just nosing out Erik Bedard and Johnny Cueto, because we was later. Joe Saunders, Kevin Millwood (end), Wandy Rodriguez, John Danks, Jair Jurrjens, Vincente Padilla (end/FA), Zach Duke (end), Trevor Cahill (end), and Rick Porcello (end/FA) all deserve mention as well...

RP

Worst

No one before the fifth round has sucked, as there weren’t any. But BJ Ryan will get this for being a waste of a relatively early pick (8th round). Add Chris Perez on this staff too...

Best

Whole, bunch of guys, but I'll go with Heath Bell (10th), who hasn't allowed a run all year. But if you like George Sherrill (16-20), Trveor Hoffman (16-20) Juan Cruz (FA), Scott Downs (FA), Ryan Franklin (end), Fernando Rodney (late), Troy Percival (late), or Brian Wilson (12-15th?) better, I wouldn't argue...

DH

Worst

Two Words- Big Papi (Fourth)

Best- Billy Butler (20’s)

Best- Billy Butler (20’s) I have 3 of your best rostered up in the main. I am also in like 360th place. It goes to show you what Rollins, Papi, Chris Young, and Adrian Beltre can do to you. The one that kills me is Young. I took to the last second between him, Ethier, and Hunter. What a bad pick no one's fault but my own. It is going to be a long year.

Fun list to read...

Another RP to add is Carlos Marmol after not winning the closer job.

Who would've thought heading into mid May Billy Butler would have more HRs than Big Papi.

Coco Crisp vs. Fred Lewis. Seems like Lewis got much more love in the main.

If injuries count, than Aramis Ramirez has to lead the list with Alex Gordon.

Wasn't Mark Aviles ADP somewhere around the 12th rd leading into the main and A Hill was 16th round?

Well, since I have Texiera, Alexie, Rollins, Beckett, & Ervin Santana on my Main Event team (all sitting in prominent positions on your "Worst" list).....I guess that would explain my lofty overall position in the 360's....
