Joe Mauer is now.....................

"Mauer with power"
.423-6-16-12 runs - in only 14 games.
To put this into perspective.....ok, I can't.
This is ridiculous. Maybe they should think about giving him extra offseason time from now on. Every game he does something for his team.
The most homers he's ever had in a half (7 in 76 games and 286 at-bats) was just one more than his current 2-week total in 52 at-bats.
In fact, he doubled his highest homer total in a month using just half a month. Mind boggling. Where is this coming from? Sure, for years we've all thought he might breakout for 20 homers, but lately I had given up on the thought of him hitting for any kind of power.
I am still baffled. I'm sure Mauer will be baffled as well, as to how many times he'll be drug tested this year.
This scenario reminds me a little of Brian Roberts busting out for 12 homers the first month of the season years back, never showed power before, never showed power again.
It's early still but 3 out of 4 (full) years with a batting title might be in the mix.
Next time somebody says the next great catcher is "Mauer with power", they might as well just say, he's the next "Mauer".
For all you Joe Mauer owners, enjoy the ride.
