If the trade goes through and he ends up on the White Sox, would the trade help his value, lower his value or be neutral?

Leaving the NL (no DH) and PETCO (best park for pitchers) for US Cellular, a hitters park...Peavy is Peavy, but I say his average stats (ERA and WHIP) have to take a hit. Wins will go up, though.

Mostly a wash. The AL Central lineups do not scare me. Wins are almost certain to go up, whip and era almost certain to go up, but playing on a new and much improved team might produce better results than expected. If Danks and Buehrle can do it, why should we worry about Peavy?

my question- can peavy play center field? can hit @ bat 1st also. as a sox fan- the sox "offense" is a lot like san diegos. have you seen those b.a? obp%. i think the brewers really missed a big opportunity here. unless the sox traded beckham- the brewers have better prospects- and a real opportunity to win it.

Not done yet. Peavy still has to approve any deal and allegedly prefers to stay in the N.L. The Brewers, or any other team still has a chance to jump in if they're serious.

This wouldn't be the first (or last) time we've asked ourselves "WTF, Kenny?" Nick Swisher immediately comes to mind, but there are others. He's so lucky he talked to John Hart.

Tough to say, but even with wins going up, e.r.a./whip might really suffer there. No way to know how he will react to the change. He has had such a nice home pitcher's park he's used to dominating. If I was a Peavy owner (I am), then I'd be a little nervous.

I'd say his value goes up.



When you only average 13 wins per healthy season...you are only really helping in ERA, WHIP and K.



ERA, WHIP and K will all still be solid in CHI, and that 13.3 win mark should go up with better run support.



The first time through the AL should be to his advantage as well.

News alert. Peavy blocks trade.

Any GM who gives a full no-trade clause should be committed.

Towers has handcuffed himself and the Padre organization with the contract.

San Diego will be limited to making a deal with 11 teams, assuming Peavy will not agree to A.L. teams and the The Padres do not want to trade within their division.

Most teams in the NL Central are destitute, the Brewers may suck it up like they did with Sabathia, while the Cubs are in flux with ownership, leaving the Mets and Phils as teams that may be all ears to San Diego overtures.

The Mets have enough problems trying to find somebody that can catch the ball at 1b. DeRosa, Huff, and Wigginton would look good there. They've also given Oliver Perez a regrettable contract so another pitcher would be a backburner thing for them.

The Phillies have Park and Moyer struggling, Happ starts for Park this week and they could be hoping that Carrasco finds his stuff at AAA before Moyer's arm falls off.

Behind the scenes, Towers will continually be making the calls. But, he'll be fighting his own worst enemy with each call, himself, for giving Peavy the no-trade clause.
