no team has benefitted more from inter league than sox. 60,000 extra fans for 3 game series. cub fans are getting better about 1/3 now watch and understand the game.

Every year Ozzie makes a similar comment about the Cubs and their fans. I think it’s getting old but it stirs up Sox fans and talk radio for a few days so he keeps doing it.



As a Cub fan(atic) and season ticket holder, I have never understood the mentality of Sox fan(atic)s that claim they only go out to the park when the Sox are winning. They wear it like a badge of honor. To me it looks like a serious case of being frontrunners and bandwagon jumpers. I am a baseball fan and love the game, but I know that to go to a game is for entertainment. To go to any Major League game expecting to see your team win is to leave disappointed almost as often as being happy.



As for the knowledge of the fans at the game, of course there are people at Wrigley Field only to be in Wrigley Field. It is a beautiful park and I highly recommend that everyone see a day game there some summer afternoon. However, I find it to be a very rare occasion when the lack of baseball knowledge of someone sitting near me has impacted my enjoyment of the game.

I go to 3 or 4 Sox games every season and there are plenty of know-nothings in US Cellular as well. It’s just that Wrigley has a higher total of people because they sellout every day. In fact, one of my favorite lines to say is when my Sox fan friends ask me why I go to Sox games. I always say, “I love going to the ‘Cell’ because ‘good seats are still available.”

I read in another thread (one of the, Chicago is the worst city in the history of the NFBC threads) that you were thinking of drafting here next year. I hope that you do because I would like to meet. I find that all your posts are must-reads and I would like to put a face and person to the words.

Plus, based on the so-called “facts”, your chances of winning $100,000 are much better here.

Our daughter just graduated from San Diego St this past spring and is beginning a year long internship in Indianapolis. It worked great for Vegas in the past as we would do a "driveby" for the draft in Vegas.

Greg makes everything spin like a top in Vegas and always seems to be accessible. I've met some great people in Vegas, all of whom I consider friends. I missed seeing a few this year which I deeply regret, especially Wayne (Edwards Kings), Perry (Captain Hook), and John (Walla Walla), story to follow.

I've never been east of Dallas, Texas. Chicago would be new for me and a chance to meet alot more nice folks.



The promised Walla Walla story-

2005 was my first year in the NFBC. I didn't participate on the Boards much. I would read it much like most of you folks do, but not post anything.

Gordon Gekko was the kingpin of the Boards then, much like he is now, although his style has changed. Anyway, there was this poster who hardly ever said a positive thing but always got a message through.

It was Walla Walla.

His posts just tickled the crap out of me! No matter what he said, it would pisss off everyone to the tune of 20 angry responses. Time would go by and he would do it again and again and he still does it today and I'm probably the only one that hopes he doesen't stop!

Anyway, he probably doesen't remember, but I was in his league for 2006. I decided during one of our breaks that I would tell him how much I enjoyed his posts. I did. He was filling up a plate at a table that was there and I went up to him, without introducing myself, and said, I really like your posts. He said, and I'll never forget it, while turning away, "Harumph".

That is the one and only time I have heard, "harumph". I've seen it in comic strips and in Mad Magazine, never heard it. I turned away smiling. If I was ever going to hear "harumph", what better person should it come from?
