I am a longtime player and I have played in several very competitive leagues. I have purchased Greg's magazines in the past and have played against stiff competition.
Does anyone have general pointers about the 100K league? I am not being a jerk, but I just want to find out the procedure, etc. I have read the rules as well as the past boards. Also, when do you find out the draft order?
Thanks ya'll. I am planning on traveling to Vegas for the draft if I decide. Is that the place that Greg attends?
Thanks for your help

Jim, what type of procedures were you wondering about? If it's strategy and things like that, I'll leave it to our participants to provide some discussion but if it's from a procedural standpoint Greg or I will be happy to help.
As far as draft sites, Greg will be in Vegas. Also, you'll find out the draft order the Monday before the draft. Our sign-up period will end on that Sunday, so the following day Greg and I will announce the leagues and draft orders on the board as well as via e-mail.

Thanks Tom. I am very excited, just a little intimidated by the multiple draft sites, league/overall winner, and rules.
I will re read all of the rules and if anyone has any general comments please let me know.

Jim, thanks for checking in with us. I can tell you for a fact that we have assembled some of the most dedicated fantasy baseball players in the country and every league title seemed to go down right to the wire before being decided this year. It's a great, great group of guys and ladies and we try our best to make this a family atmosphere, which is why we start out with Welcome Receptions in each city. You'll get to know the other competitors in your league quite well and I trust you'll make some new friendships through this league.
As for the contest, think of this as nothing more than a new 15-team league for you. You are competing against 14 other competitors for a mixed league title, which is worth $5,000. You need to do everything you can on Draft Day to assemble the best starting lineup and group of reserves, and then you need to outmaneuver these same 14 guys for the top free agents during the year. The 15-team format is new to a lot of folks, but it's a good challenge and tough. You also need to watch the categories closely and determine how you can move up within your league, while also seeing how that will affect your overall standings.
Everyone wants to win the $100,000 grand prize, but the first order of business is the league title and the $5,000 first place prize. We'd love to have you involved and feel free to contact me personally at [email protected] or ask any other question online.
I'll be in Las Vegas and I promise to buy you the first beer and likely the second one, too!
We'll have some fun that weekend and the fact that the NCAA tournament and St. Patrick's Day is also falling at that time of year (bummer, huh?), we should all have plenty of fun in Sin City. See you there and thanks for considering our unique contest.

Jim,
Don't be intimidated, we are all jst a bunch of ham and eggers. One tip: If you are intent on drafting Rafael Furcal, send him a case of O'Douls...

It's really simple to win it all, draft players who perform better than the draft slot where you got them would indicate, pick up players from the waiver wire before anyone else knows about them or before they start to perform well, and don't punt any categories. (you might win your league punting saves but you won't win the overall title)
Do your homework but keep it simple, sifting through stacks of cheat sheets and statistics on draft day will cause you to panic as the clock clicks down in the 23rd round. I've done several of these and the most common mistake made by the inexperienced is calling out a player who was taken several rounds earlier.
The best advice you'll hear is this;
Have a draft list at least 450 players long, cross them off as they are selected, and keep track of your roster and position requirements.
If you do that you won't be embarassed, you won't get clock bit, and you'll come away with a decent team.
It sounds simple and obvious but every year someone will call out 2 or 3 players in a row who've already been picked and end up with a panic pick they didn't want.

I went into last year a bit concerned too Jim. I thought I would be shark food. I found out that Leaderboard is right. Just do your homework and be ready and not panic and you will not only draft a good team but you will have the most fun you have ever had. These people that run this are first class. I won my league and got the money sent to me within 2 to 3 weeks. I hope to see you in Lost Wages.
