Main Event vs Satllelite

I am curious to the comparisons between the competitiveness of the main event vs satellite leagues. I've only done three $125 satellite leagues (one last year and two this year) and think I'm ready to play with the big boys. What do you guys see are the main differences in draft and in-season managements? Thanks.

Good to hear that you're going to give the Main a go.

Drafting for satelites, I tend to be a litle more reckless in reaching for players that I think will have big years. If I am a little unbalanced in a satelite league, it's ok, sometimes you can still take an unbalanced team to first place.

In satelites, players "give up" a lot quicker than they do with the Main. Losing interest if their team doesen't fare well or putting more of an emphasis on their main team or simply getting ready for football. Some teams give up in the Main, but it happens later and not as frequently.

Free agents are more easily available in satelites because players do lose interest more quickly. In the Main event, the weekly prizes and lifetime standings are an impetus to keep players involved all 26 weeks.

I probably put 75 percent of my seasonal efforts and concentration into the Main and spread the other 25 percent amongst satelite, CBS Leagues, and home leagues. With that said, I am currently 188 overall in the Main and winning three satelite-CBS leagues. Which tells me I was a bit too conservative in the Main.

I hope this helps. My advice would be that if you're doing well in satelites to jump in the Main. It beats the satelite experience tenfold and you'll never think about missing the Main again.

[/QUOTE]As the father of a two-month old, that sleep schedule sounds pretty damn good.

I'll be in Vegas next March so you two can beat up on me in person.
