wow... TWO ties in the other Super League?? Ridiculous... If I woulda finished in the top 20 as I was for most of the season, I think I woulda had the highest overall rank without getting top 3 in a league.. not sure what the record for that is... but what a tough league. Congrats to Rich, Karl, and Ed... I'm only a little bitter

She's still stinging from that one!! :D

Dave:

I was very lucky, along with my partners, to have a shot in the Super League for a third place tie. We needed 2 K's from Scott Baker & Joe Nathan. Baker locked that DOWN for us in the 4th Inning.

We needed to avoid a Placido Polanco home run - check.

It all came down to Matt Guerrier's appearance. He got he final out in the seventh inning. It didn't seem like a big deal, but it was. When Magglio Ordonez went yard to leadoff the 8th inning, the team we tied with gained a point back in the ERA category. Guerrier needed to register one more out in order for the ERA point to re-adjust. Matt got that out and proceeded to place two runners on base before Nathan bailed him out. IF the inherited runner scored, we would have dropped to fourth place. I've been there before, it was nice to have it turn the other way......... for once.

I was worried about breaking Sandy's unfortunate record also. I finally finished 18th overall, though did hang on to 3rd place in my league. The guy in 4th put on a brilliant late charge and finished with 111 league points. I had the highest overall finish of anybody in my league and was lucky to hang on to 3rd.

how many teams in that league finished 300 or worse overall?

wow. 17/4 has got to sting. I'm still feeling 11/2 a year before 11 was a free entry.

Just a heads up that we didn't send out the winning checks for Canadian residents, but those will go out on Friday. There was a miscommunication on our part about the W-9's, but we've touched base internally now and all is good. We'll send those checks out on Friday.

Sorry about this, but as they say, the checks are in the mail! :D

Also, we went down this road with Gekko during the summer, but I don't think anyone of us in that league thought it was a guppy league. Lots of variables from draft day to end of season. I agree, it was a tough league. Remember Navel Lint's predictions AFTER our draft? And I agreed with much of what he said but yet that's not at all how our league turned out. See ya in March.

[/QUOTE]Agreed... it was def a tough league, very much disagree with Gekko there.. and yes, had I NOT dropped Franklin, it woulda been a completely different story... *sigh* ya live and ya learn... and I keep learning new things every year... gotta get better at managing my FAAB budget next year...

again, i look at how many guppy teams in the league to determine league strength. check how many overall teams at 300 or below were in your league. that's usually a good guage.

Maybe there wouldn't be as many "guppy teams" if the top 4 didn't draft so well... I came in 2nd place in the Super League and 4th in the Main Event... I guess the Super League is easier, huh? I didn't draft better in it, my main event team was better... guess there were a lot of "guppy" teams there, like yours for instance
