2010 AL and NL only auctions

At present, the AL and NL only auctions are not formally scheduled as Greg, Tom and Fanball would appreciate some feedback with respect to their ability to retain as many of the regular participants as possible.

The $1300 and $650 "only" leagues are about as good as a representation of what the NFBC is all about in terms of excellent competition and close camaraderie.

To many of us, they have a home league feel in a high stakes setting.

To keep this spirit alive, let's do our best to figure out a way to have as many as possible of us be able to participate in all the events we want.

Please share your thoughts, comments and opinions in this thread.

Todd, I agree about a home town feel. I don't think it will feel the same if you don't make it.

I also don't think there is any way that you can get the group together if the main draft will take place a week later. No one will do the first

main draft if they have a choice.

FWIW, I don't have all the information necessary for me to make the personal decision of which date I prefer. There are a few potentially moving pieces, some that may be obvious, others not so much.

And unfortunately, all the precincts might not be counted before Greg et. al. have to make their final decision.

but....

A few years back, there were preliminary plans to hold a fantasy baseball conference in Tampa the week of the NFBC, with a small amount of overlap with respect to the two events. I was scheduled to be a speaker. I had begun making plans with the principles involved to plan my conference duties such that I could hop on a plane and be in Vegas for the Friday auctions and jet back to Tampa to finish my conference duties there and draft the Main Event there as well. Unfortunately, the conference was canceled so it was moot.

And, there are a ton of flights between Vegas and NYC.

Just sayin....

While far too early to figure this out now, assuming I can play in AL and/or NL auctions next year my preference would likely be the first weekend as long as there was not a conflict.

Todd, It's a mute point for me now. I canceled my airline flight. Good luck all in the future.

The new national auction competition is intriguing to me. Given that I only have enough nickels to play in a couple of NFBC leagues, I'm probably going to drop out of the AL in favor of the new game.
