NFBC Money Leaders Draft On Tuesday, Nov. 10th

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:16 am

We are going to press with our first issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine earlier than ever before and thus we need to host our magazine drafts earlier than ever before. As I mentioned previously, this first issue is going to be a Guide To High-Stakes Players and feature the NFBC prominently along with our top money leaders. We have a feature that will prominently showcase 20 of our top NFBC winners from 2009 along with strategy stories from Shawn Childs on the NFBC draft and Todd Zola on the NFBC auctions.

We'll also have a feature on the top fantasy baseball money leaders in our industry, showcasing CDM Diamond Challenge and NFBC money earners. In fact, look for more ways to feature these lists soon. This is going to be cool. We'll also have some strategy tips from 15-20 NFBC players.

Our magazine draft is being called an NFBC Money Leaders draft featuring many of our past NFBC overall champions along with other top money leaders. The draft will be held next Tuesday on MockDraftCentral.com, 23 rounds instead of 30 with owners filling out a legal lineup. Right now the lineup card includes:

Artie Rastelli, 2004 NFBC champion

David DiDonato, 2006 NFBC champion

Bobby Jurney, 2008 NFBC champion

Shawn Childs, 4 league titles in 6 seasons

Stephen Jupinka, Lifetime Standings leader

Rick Thomas, defending Ultimate league champion

David Longood, 3-time Ultimate Auction champ

Brent Grooms

Ken Norred

Kenny Magner

Donn Johnson, 2 Super league titles in 2009

Mark Srebro

We have invites out to Lindy Hinkelman and Terry Haney, 2009 and 2007 NFBC champions, along with Brian Oldenski, our 2005 NFBC champion. Greg Morgan has been invited too along with Eddie Gillis. We need three more to agree and then we'll pick draft spots and get the smack talk started.

Please confirm here if you can and the rest of you reach out to Lindy and Terry to get them in for sure. David Longood is currently tentative because of business but will make things work if he's really needed. Let's get to 15 this week and get this going.

Thanks all. We have other past champions on standby if needed, but it's time to get this thing started. Stay tuned and then get ready for the early draft results. We'll reveal some of them here first.

Okay, Lindy Hinkelman is confirmed in. That gives us 13 owners and I'll call Terry now to recruit him. Yes, Stevie's Wonderland is a solid fill-in if we need a 15th.

Okay, Terry Haney has confirmed and will be with us for this draft, too. Great stuff. Welcome aboard Terry. We'll miss ya in Phoenix this weekend, but I'll see ya on Tuesday.

Okay, let me get one more confirmed for this league and then we'll be off and running. I'm just going to randomly pick this draft order and make you folks do the best you can do from the assigned spot. Remember, we're not playing this out and we're picking our 23 starters. Should be fun and a good learning experience for each of us.

I'll also ask each of you to write a quick strategy paragraph when all is said and done. Let me figure that out plus a word count and then get you that info next week. Thanks all.

Eddie Gillis is in, too. We should be good with 15 now, but I think we may need one replacement. I'll double-check for sure.

I know that everyone is underprepared for a baseball draft in November, but don't fret it. We're all underprepared. Just do the best you can and we'll have some fun with it. This will get the ball rolling on baseball and get the talk started. We'll post all of these magazine results and get things rolling. Great stuff and don't go crazy.

I can get completed draft results to all of you if needed. Or if you want to go without any of that, no problem. Watch for the draft order soon and then the invite from MockDraftCentral.com. Thanks all.

Pretty amazing group. Congrats all and let's have fun with this league. We'll make this an annual kickoff to the upcoming baseball season and feature our Money Leaders each year in that first issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine. Our players are the stars of the NFBC and we've always said we wanted to do a better job of featuring them to the national public. This is the first step in that process.

Man...this league would be a bugger if each team had five grand of his own on the line, winner takes all!

Any chance we'll be able to watch this sucker live?

Greg – How about we make this mock worth something? Since we are only drafting starting lineups, can you have STATS create a league and let it play out? How about the bottom 5 owners get replaced in next year’s “Money List Draft” with new blood?

Okay, I just sent each of you an e-mail about the Strategy story I want from each of you. Mainly it's about a strategy to win this year's NFBC title or any league title. But if some of you want to talk about your strategy for this league, that's fine too. What were you targeting this year or what seems scarce? Let's have a mix of short strategy columns for this first issue.

I've sent an example to each of you. Please write this 60-word feature by Thursday at noon and email to me and Tom. Thanks all. Oh, and good luck tomorrow night. This should be fun.

Any chance of watching this bad boy on MDC tomorrow night? I know the December draft last year was available to everyone. Thanks.

I think these guys know that their 23 picks will be published anyway and we're not going any deeper than that. Let me check with Geoff and see if we can do it. Stay tuned.
