The 2010 NFBC Draft Location For Chicago Is....

I drove down to Chicago today in a driving day-long rainstorm, but it was time well spent. I think we have finalized a unique and very different draft location for our Midwest folks that will make this a special NFBC event in 2010. I'm excited about this one and draft day should be a blast. We should have a contract by tomorrow, so I'll announce the location then.
Sorry for the tease, but what the heck!!
I think we locked up New York today and both weekends look good. Those announcements should be final early next week. We still have a little work to do in New York, but I think we have enough to announce both locations soon. Then it's time to debut the new web site and get this season officially underway.
Any guesses on Chicago??

I'll announce it tomorrow.

Greg - your post makes it sound like both weekends might be in New York. Is that going to be the case or is the first weekend going to be in Atlantic City? I am pulling for NY!

With Liberty Media owning the Atlanta Braves and having deals with the Seattle Mariners among other MLB teams, we have looked into the possibility of hosting an NFBC draft at an MLB ballpark. It's an interesting idea. Thanks.

The first weekend will very likely be in Atlantic City. I'm 99 percent sure of that. It's a new destination that we want to try out and see if there is enough interest to expand our interest there. For some folks, the location will allow them to play the first weekend rather than venture into New York City on the second weekend and hopefully for others it will be close enough to allow them to do both weekends. We'll have auctions and the Live Double Play on Friday and the main event and Live Double Play on Saturday.
The second weekend will be in New York City. I am finalizing the details of that now. We may have a different twist for our East Coast participants, so stay tuned. We're trying to work all of this out now. Hopefully we'll have this done early next week, but we are close.
I know some folks wanted both weekends in New York City, but that wouldn't be a good way to grow the event or be economically sound. Trust me, NYC is the most expensive city we have to host an NFBC event. Doing it twice there wouldn't make sense. If Atlantic City doesn't work out, then finding a venue between Boston and New York City will be looked into.
I did look into the casinos between Boston and New York City and in my first phone call I was told that they don't like to host these fantasy events. That's not a new response as I've been told that before and got the same answer when I called an Indiana casino to host the NFBC. Some of those casinos have strict gambling guidelines and even hosting a fantasy draft is too risky for them, so they don't even consider hosting something like the NFBC drafts. Crazy, I know, but there's nothing I can do about it.
I hope this helps to explain some of our decisions with going to Atlantic City that first weekend.

Personally, I think the AC/NYC combo will be a big winner.
I'll definitely be at the AC venue the first weekend....
The NYC venue remains to be seen for me, but there's a chance I'll be at both....dependent on what's offered what weekends and what I decide to partake in.
I'm really looking forward to the formal announcements for the east coast locations and can't wait to see what is offered for each weekend as far as events.
I was tentatively planning for Las Vegas this year, but the wifey kinda killed those plans with an announcement of her own last month that she'll be tripling the amount of kids we'll have in June. I (we) decided early that a Vegas trip during her 3rd trimester with twins might not be wise. Still, as always, she'll be cool with me playing my hobbies as long as I'm within driving distance in case.....
Looking forward to baseball season in a big way this year. Catch you all soon....

Glenn Congrats Glenn. Wow, twins!!! In 21 years we'll have at least two more teams in the NFBC and NFFC events, right?

Congrats and best of luck the rest of the way. Very, very exciting.

Thats great, Glenn!
Join the club. We had twins umpteen years ago. The first reaction from others is, "Oh, that must be a lot of work!" Trust me, you won't notice the difference having two (much

)

Thanks Greg...thanks Steve....
Steve, my wife loves that show....but sorry, three has to be the limit....though if I do make it to nine, I can field my own baseball team.....hmmmmm.
Greg, hopefully in 21 years, they'll be taking over the great Glenneration X legacy of five Main Event overall championships, 10 straight Diamond League championships, and the first unanimously elected member of the NFBC Hall of Fame.....

.
Until then, you'll just have to settle for a three-pack of co-managers fees....

.
Thanks again guys for the good wishes, my wife and I are both unbelievably excited....and terrified.
Catch you soon,
Glenn

I've already started speaking to my wife's belly and explaining to the twins that there is no crying in baseball (or during Daddy's football Sundays). Hopefully they listen to this rule better than my firstborn did....
Thanks again,
Glenn
