2010 NFBC Events Schedule For All Cities

Okay, it's time to announce our Events Schedules for each city on the Message Boards and this will be defined much better by city on the new web site that will be unveiled shortly. Times are still tentative, but the goal is to give as many options to people as possible to play in as many events once they've taken the time and expense to travel to each city. Remember, we have national championships this year now in the main event, the auction championship, the online championship and the Live Double Play. I know it's a lot to digest, but the web site will define things better.

2010 NFBC Events Schedule For All Cities

One of the areas that I need input from the possible participants is the Ultimate and Diamond Leagues. I know there are a few folks who would like to do both this year, but right now I have them scheduled at the same time on Sunday morning in Las Vegas. I'm not sure how to do this, so I am interested in suggestions from those who are serious about playing in these events.

In Las Vegas, we are definitely going to host the Diamond, Ultimate and Supers in a Bellagio suite and we want to make these VERY SPECIAL. Thus doing one in the morning and one in the afternoon is doable, but I thought it would be too much in one day. Plus, those who are used to doing the Ultimate or Super on Sunday morning I'm sure would like to see that time slot remain. Doing an Ultimate earlier in the weekend is also tougher.

So provide some input and hopefully we can come up with a workable solution. If not, we'll run them both at once and provide an Ultimate the weekend before as well for anyone who wants to do the Ultimate that weekend and the Diamond the following weekend. That might be the best solution for those in Las Vegas.

Feel free to provide some suggestions on times and other thoughts. I'm thinking that a Live Double Play will take around 3.5 hours to complete and thus I've scheduled 5 hours inbetween events in each city. We feel that we can still have enough time inbetween events and have food nearby for those who want to do back-to-back Friday events.

Thanks all and thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Greg – Thanks for posting. You are really going all out this year. I wonder how many teams you are counting on for all your events this year? It’s got to be at least DOUBLE the amount from last year. Couple questions…

1. Will there be $1,300 mixed auctions offered?

2. For the March 26th weekend in Vegas, it appears that someone can draft SEVEN Double Play teams, 3 Auction Championship teams, 2 Super teams, but only ONE main event. I might be in the minority here, but I wish there was more than ONE chance to draft a main event team, as opposed to SEVEN chances to draft “Double Play” teams. Why only 1 chance at a main event team, but 7 chances at a double play team? PS – This is coming from someone with little to no interest in the double play contest.

3. Did you hire someone to keep track of all the signups/changes/etc for each league? ;)

2. The idea with the different times for the Double Play and Auction Championship isn't to have someone take seven teams; it's to make dates and times work for folks who are coming to each location and when they are leaving. That's it. If people want to do multiple Double Plays or Auctions we are allowing that.

I think the two-weekend concept for the main event is drastic enough change for one year. I still feel that for the main event it's important to have everyone draft simultaneously that day, with no individual person or city having an advantage. I think the main event gets lessened as our premiere event by having multiple draft times over one weekend. This is still THE MAIN EVENT on one day and we want to keep this special for everyone.

Sure, we have multiple weekends, but both Saturday's are at the same time in each city and each is run simultaneously. I think that special feeling will be there for participants who choose either weekend. I understand your request and it's obviously being done by others in football, but for now we'd rather expand the side events and still reach 405 in the main event with this two weekend concept.

3. Oh yeah, we'll have cross-checkers following each signup. Each signup comes over via e-mail to about five of us, so it gets fun when the signups just keep rollin' in. That's when the Blackberry is humming!! :D

405 in the main event (up from 390 last year)

720 in the Online Championship

300 in the Live Double Play

150 in the Auction Championship

We have budgeted similar numbers in the Ultimate and Super and think we can fill at least one Diamond League. Our satellite numbers are projected slightly up too as we believe the Fanball customer base will like a lot of those offerings. The thinking is the same about the increase in the NFBC Online Championship.

So we have modest goals and I think we can reach or even surpass them. The two-weekend concept should allow us to grow in many ways and I think once folks see the national contests – heck, you could be the champion of FOUR NATIONAL CONTESTS this year – they will like them.

Hope this helps.

Hello Greg....quite a lineup, nicely done.....a few quick questions....

1 - When do you think the NYC location will be announced? This week?

2 - You list the registration cost for each event. Please also list which of these events also carry the events fee. (I know in previous threads, all Bellagio events carried it while Flamingo events did not). Please list for all cities.

3 - In previous threads, there were hints at multiple event discounts. Will there be a discount or incentive (similar to the free stay at the Flamingo) for taking the Main Event/Auction/Double Play trifecta? Will there be a discount or incentive for taking multiple entries in the Main Event or Aution or Double Play (similar to the 3-pack discount last year for the Online Championships or similar to the 2nd Main Event team discount offered this year by the WCOFF)?

4 - Will you be offering a Diamond League in NY?

If not, will there be phone-in options for the Vegas draft? If not, can we offer the same payout percentage to the NY Ultimate League draft as Vegas is getting for their Diamond League?

5 - When you list your 720 target for registrations to the Online Championships, does that include the 300 Double Play participants or is that in addition? What would be the grand prize for the event with that many registrants?

Thanks & catch you soon,

Glenn

Thanks & catch you soon,

Glenn 1. We just received the contract today and everything is progressing nicely. We have agreed to almost everything with the host site. We just have to get this done before announcing it. Should be within the next week.

2. That will come soon enough. We're still finalizing that and there will be early-bird specials to save on some of those fees. Stay tuned and don't delay if that's an important issue with you. The Super, Ultimate and Diamond have no Events Fees, that's for sure.

3. There will be incentive packages for the three-pack. We will unveil VIP and MVP packages very soon and they will be limited to the first x amount of signups. We're working on those promos right now. Ryan just finalized those. We're not looking to discount multiple entries but will instead work on good incentives to hopefully entice you to do more events.

4. We'll offer the Diamond in any city that could fill one. I'm less inclined to do a phone hookup with that league, but we'll see. Right now I do have 6-7 owners who said they will do the Diamondn League in Las Vegas and we have a nice suite picked out for that, so the goal is to fill that one up there. Heck, if we can get 15 in New York, we'll find the best suite in Manhattan and host it there. So I think we'll offer it to everyone and then see what the numbers look like in each city as we near Draft Day. Fair enough?

We bumped up the payout for the Ultimate and Super Leagues to 86.7% this year. $2500 more in prizes is going to the Ultimate and $1250 to the Super. We bumped up the third place league prize in the main events from $1250 to $1300, so now league payouts are $8,800. In 2004 when we started, league payouts were $7,500.

5. It would be 720 + 300. Grand prize in the Online Championship is $60,000 now; it was $40,000 last year with 600 teams. The grand prize in the Double Play is $25,000, so someone who does the Double Play could win $85,000 on a $500 entry. Sound good?

After 20 years of mostly newsprint, this is a thing of beauty. You'll like it if you order this before Christmas and get this baby in your stocking. Put this magazine and Shandler's Baseball Forecaster in your hands by Dec. 20th for both and you folks will be in hog heaven!! :D

We'll offer a discount for the last three Fanball magazines on the site if you want to order those before Draft Day and have them delivered to your home. I believe there are two Fanball titles and a Just Cheat Sheets title. So you'll have a chance to order our mags and have them BEFORE Draft Day. Hope that helps.

I'm a big fan of almost everything the NFBC/Fanball has been putting out there lately and it already has me excited for the upcoming season (as evidenced by my participation in a baseball draft in DECEMBER).

I think what intrigues me the most is the Diamond League and not just because of the potential prizes (though having to beat just 14 people for $75K is enticing).

It would absolutely destroy my fantasy baseball budget and if I joined I would probably have to limit myself to just that league and one Main Event team, but the intensity of the draft and the season would be insane. With just 14 other competitors, unbelievably high stakes, and the talent of the likely competition, it would feel like being at the final table at the World Series of Poker (another dream that always gets my blood pumping).

I'm nowhere near deciding what events I'll be participating in this season. Whether I'll join just a couple big money events or just take multiple chances at the Main Event and a couple lesser events, nothing gets my adrenaline going like when I think about joining this event. Do me a favor Greg and take the option away from me (keep it out of NY and no phone option)....thanks.

My wife would kill me....

Keep up the great work,

Glenn

PS...how about a hint on what those VIP and MVP packages entail?

PSS..I already get your magazine sent to me all year round by a co-promoter of yours....I'm sure you can guess what website that is....

and Shandler's book is already ordered and is promised to be ready for my X-mas stocking. It will fit right next to Bill James' book & the Hardball Times that are already sitting snug in the sock. The damn Prospectus never makes it in time for Santa..... :D
