Question re: Double Play 3-pack promotion

If this has been asked/answered, sorry. Just point me.

On the front page it says there's a three-pack available for Double Play. 2 live, 1 online, pick your location. Free signed Jon Lester baseball.

It goes on to advertise "Three Chances to Win the $85,000 prize".

I thought the live drafts @ $500 were shooting for 60K plus a second pot of 25K, and the online drafts at $350 were shootring at 60K only?

Did I misunderstand? Am I missing something?

I'm going to enter something, but not sure what. Want to get my head around the rules/payouts ahead of time to avoid confusion after the fact.

I believe you are correct. Although you will be eligible for the 85K, it will not be for three events, just the 2 live draft components.

They way I understand it, you have a shot at $85,000 if you do the double play live, if you do the online you have a shot at $60,000.

I'm going to enter something, but not sure what. Want to get my head around the rules/payouts ahead of time to avoid confusion after the fact. Okay, there's some confusion on the Double Play and I understand that. So let me try to explain this in two parts and hopefully it will make more sense.

The Online portion of the Double Play only has one aspect to it and it's completely the same as it was last year. The only difference is that it's called the NFBC Online Double Play, not the NFBC Online Championship.

Last year when we debuted the NFBC Online Championship we set a goal of 300 teams and guaranteed the grand prize at $20,000. As everyone knows by now, we were so successful last year that we finished with 600 teams and a $40,000 grand prize, which was won by Lindy Hinkelman.

So this year we wanted to grow the Online Championship but we didn't just want to double the number of online participants. We wanted to create something special while still increasing the grand prize.

So now we have a guaranteed $60,000 grand prize for the online portion of the Double Play with 720 teams coming from online leagues and hopefully 300 teams coming from the live events. That would be a total of 1,020 teams competing for the $60,000 grand prize.

So if you compete in the Online Double Play, you still have a shot at the $1,300 league prize and $650 second place league prize -- the same as it was last year -- and a $60,000 grand prize along with the other overall prizes. Yes, there are more teams, but someone is still going to emerge as the champion.

So now, does this part of the Double Play make sense? Very few changes here. Next: Live Double Play.

The Live Double Play has two components to winning: Thus the name "Double Play." All Live Double Play participants are drafting at one of our live events and the cost is $500 per team. First place league prize is $2,000 and second place league prize is $750. These are 12-team leagues just like the Online Double Play with 30-man rosters.

Okay, here are the two components from your one team in the Live Double Play:

** Along with the league prizes, the 300 teams in the Live Double Play are competing for a $25,000 grand prize and other overall prizes. Only the Live Double Play participants are eligible for these overall prizes.

** But those same stats and results are then included in the Online Double Play with all 720 teams from that competition in the fight for the $60,000 grand prize. You are still managing the same team, but that team is now eligible for the $25,000 grand prize and the $60,000 grand prize. Each day in the Live Double Play, you'll get to see your team ranked in the Live Double Play overall standings, the Online Double Play Standings and your league standings. Three results in one.

Some people are saying that the Live Double Play is the best offer we have this year as you can turn a $500 entry fee into $85,000. We'll see if that's the case, but we think it offers another unique option for folks who already have paid for travel and hotel accommodations and are looking for another fun contest with a big grand prize.

Good luck all and feel free to post further questions here or to email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

And yes we are offering a Double Play three-pack right now. If anyone wants to do two Live Double Plays and one online Double Play, we'll eliminate the Events Fees, co-manager fees and provide a Jon Lester autographed baseball. Not a bad deal, especially with $85,000 available to be won.

Click on any of the SIGN UP NOW links and go into the registration area to find the Double Play Special for $1350. Good luck all.

Greg, I think what the original poster was pointing out was that there's a bit of false advertising on the three pack ad on the main page. It says "3 chances at $85K" but there are only 2 chances with a chance at $60K in the online portion.

I'll see if we can update that promo piece to make it accurate. Thanks.

[/QUOTE]Yes, this promotion is alive and well. It is on the signup page under Specials when you decide to sign up. Just click on that and pick your location and dates for the Live Double Plays and then the time and date for your Online Double Play and you'll be good to go. Should be fun and the autographed baseball isn't bad, either.
