91 Matt Cain
92 Alexei Ramirez
93 Hunter Pence
94 Joakim Soria
95 Clayton Kershaw
96 Adam Jones
97 Cole Hamels
98 Michael Young
99 Alfonso Soriano
100 Heath Bell
101 Ubaldo Jimenez
102 Ricky Nolasco
103 Carlos Gonzalez
104 Francisco Rodriguez
105 Nate McLouth
LIKE:
Hunter Pence - Had most of his at bats from the 6 hole?!? With Tejada gone, should move up to a better spot in the lineup. Also attempted 25 stolen bases last year. If he can improve on his success %, he would be a sneaky way of acquiring 20 sb's.
DISLIKE:
Cole Hamels - Innings jump too years ago negatively affected him last year. The Phillies couldn't even trust him at the end of last year, so how could you?? Created a lot of tension during the playoffs when he said he can't wait for the season to be over.

I see lots of value here. Plus a few I wouldn't touch in the 7th, 8th or 9th rounds.

I was high on Alexei last year. Even took him in the 2nd round.
However, I can't make heads or tails of his season, and I know Ozzie likes to play games, so this year I'm staying away.

3 straight years of 3.1-3.6 ERA and 1.08-1.15 WHIP
2009 ERA was 4.32 with a 1.29 WHIP - not good, but not "fell off the map" bad either... people weigh one year too much if there's no other reasons to believe he will falter
Had unusually high 1st half hit% of 37% which led to high 1st half ERA/WHIP, bounced back in the 2nd half
Maintained strong control/dominance/command throughout 2009
Other than his last start the rest of September he was good overall
He's 26 years old
He plays for the World Series favorite (thus more wins likely)

oh, and if you like SHandler, his xERA was 3.67... none of his numbers other than 1st half hit% were off... he looks like the same pitcher we had been seeing the last 3 years, but he went through an unlucky period which probably caused him to get frustrated.. he was 25 years old after all... an offseason of rest should do wonders

hamels is a bum that will BURN each and every one of his 7th round owners this year. don't let it be you Perhaps I should not be throwing my opinion around in a thread with so many veterans. But as a Phils fan I feel the need to defend Cole from the description of "bum". I will admit that I had the feeling the league figured out something about Cole last season and he could not adjust. If Cole is your first pitcher at 7 he may well let you down but if he's your 2 or 3 your going to do alright.

If Cole Hammels is your first pitcher taken, you need to find another hobby.
And I'm a Phillies fan. But I do think that the league figured him out last year and he's got some issues "betwen the ears".

I would say 50/50 chance that I won't roster a SP before the the seventh round in the Main. I took him in the 7th in one slow draft (my third SP), so I think that is a fair ADP for him.
I don't like these RP here.

AND Hamels got smoked his last three starts of the regular season.
in his last 35.66 innings of 2009, hamels gave up 9 homers

with an earned run avg of 7.31
seriously folks, do you REALLY want to take this guy to be your ACE??? better think twice.

Sounds like Greinke from last year?

[/QUOTE]agreed. after years of watching the crap come out of the Gekko keyboard.. you have to realize that he's playing a game with names. i dont think one person should believe one word he writes. to hype wandy as an amazing play 1 round after saying that hamels is a bum is laughable. i would have given you credit on wandy last season.. but this season he is way over valued. his injuries and control issues could be solved.. but i wont be the one taking him ahead of some of the pitchers im sure you list in the upcoming rounds. oh and dont forget he is 31 and he just put up his 1st 200 inning season .. up almost 70 innings from the year before.
do you feel lucky?

THAT'S A FACT fact? hows that? do you plan on taking "better" pitchers earlier? will you be starting your staff with wandy? ubaldo and his 90+bb's? im not sure if i think that hamels is an anchor but i dont think you'd be at a deficit early on if others start their staff with SP's in your 6th, 7th or 8th round ADP's.
drop the knowledge.... because other than beckett... none of those guys are fool proof. vazquez back to ny, johnson huge innings spike, hanson.. young dude... kerhsaw lots of walks and young dude. gallardo? walks, injuries and huge innings spike. peavey is in the AL and with the cws.. coming off of injury.
so yeah. hamels struggled mightily at the end of season. no doubt that his struggles contributed to this huge blow up that you think will affect his ablility.. it wont. his slide last season probably has more to due with his huge innings jump from the previous season. please note that in that postseason... he was pretty sick.
