NFBC Rookie Invitational Satellite League- League is Full!!!

Hello everyone - if you are reading this welcome to the sign-up thread for a unique Sat league for this season. I pitched Greg on the idea of letting me run a Rookie Invitational this season - and he has graciously given me the green light to take sign-ups for this experimental league.
The concept is this - take 10 NFBC Rookies (to qualify as a Rookie - you can never have played in the Main Event or any of the Premier Events.) and put them together in a league with a couple competitive, yet helpful, NFBC veterans and let them battle it out for a spot in next year's Main Event.
Along the way, rookie participants will be able to interact with their veteran counterparts weekly via "chats" (following each weeks FAAB results) as well as daily in a thread in a League Forum which will hopefully lead to a season-long discussion about what it takes to compete and succeed in the NFBC's unique 15 team format.
This league will run just like any other NFBC league with one exception. While we will not be changing the IP minimums, in the interest of "training" new players to play in the NFBC we will require each owner to leave the draft with at least 6 Starting Pitchers. You can draft them in any rounds you choose and once the season starts you will be free to manage your team however you like.
The date for this draft is set for the weekend of March 13/14 - the exact day and time will be determined at a later date by the participants.
If you are a rookie who is interested sign-up below with your real name in the body of your response. Once we have the league filled Greg and/or Tom will let you know how to officially register.
Any veterans who may have interest - please PM me so I can discuss your participation. I will need at least a couple dedicated guys who can take turns joining me for the weekly chats and who have a desire to do something like this. This could be a fun league for any veteran who will not be playing in the Main Event this season, for whatever reason. The interaction will hopefully help feed your fantasy hunger all season long.

I joined the NFBC family in 2008 with a pair of $125 Satellite drafts. I was improbably successful in my first venture - winning one league and finishing 3rd in the other (to Bobby Jurney by the way). This led to a trip to last year’s Main Event and the excitement of participating in the premier fantasy event in the country. I finished 125th in the Main last year and 3rd in my league, so I had a decent year. I knew that I could have done better though. I learned that if I was ever going to beat the best – I had to learn from my mistakes and grow as a player.
The idea for this league came from my own experiences as a “newbie” here and a desire to add something extra to the league experience. There is a great spirit of competition and camaraderie between long-time participants in the NFBC. However, in individual leagues, this isn’t always the case for new players.
If you are thinking about playing in a NFBC league for the first time – don’t be fooled. There is a learning curve involved. The new Friday substitution rule is bringing an entirely new wrinkle to the game this year that many haven’t even begun to consider yet. You can be sure that the best players here likely already are developing strategies for this new rule.
Hopefully we can have a fun time competing and learn a little along the way.
