"I told Davey (Lopes) I want to try to steal 50 bases," said Jimmy Rollins. "That's the first thing I want to do. Will it happen? We'll see, but that's my goal. That's a place I've never been before, so it gives me something to shoot at."
25/50 season from a SS. Time to move him up the boards a bit folks. He's one of the key players in making the 75/75 strategy work.

PS - I just put $500 on the Rangers winning 96 games because Josh Hamilton said they would

What is the big difference between Rollins and Jeter?
Rollins-slightly more power and steals
Jeter-far superior batting average
rbi and runs are basically a wash
Jeter is going in the 4th round
Rollins is going in the 2nd round

Taveras, newest leadoff hitter for the Cincinnati Reds, doesn’t change expressions when he says, “I can steal 100 bases this year.”
That’s because Taveras believes he should get 700 plate appearances this year. He also believes he can hit .300 and raise his on-base average to .350.
.......... Oops !

Rollins has been a BUST the last 2 years for his draft slot and he is not getting any younger. With that said, I think he is a solid value at the end of round 2. The problem is he goes much earlier than that.

.......... Oops !
Meet Tavares half way. If you project 20 swipes and he said 100 you should meet him in the middle.

Yep I fell for that one. Still can't believe I drafted him! But I've long since stopped doubting Rollins. He could do it!

.......... Oops !
hahaha Russell... I was JUST going to quote that! Yeah, Rollins claiming he's going to steal 50 means jack... that being said, I still have him as my #2 SS behind Hanley, ahead of Reyes, then Tulo.. 20 HR, 40 SB from easily the weakest position is good enough for me.. even with a .280 BA

I agree.. you definitely want to bet on young speed, not old speed.. that being said, Rollins is 31, not 34

25/50 season from a SS. Time to move him up the boards a bit folks. He's one of the key players in making the 75/75 strategy work. Love pre-season cliches.
I took this off of RotoAuthority.com they keep track of all of them each season. This was last year's list.
Planning to attempt more stolen bases
* Coco Crisp - "I think I can easily steal 40"
* Nate McLouth - aiming for 30-35 steals
* Alfonso Soriano - "If I feel healthy this year, I can steal 30 easy"
* Willy Taveras - "I can steal 100 bases"
Other statistical predictions by players
* Rich Harden - would like to make 30+ starts
* Matt Kemp - Thinks he's capable of 40/40 season
* Matt Lindstrom - John Baker thinks he can save 45 games
* Frank Thomas - "I know I can go out and hit 35 to 40 home runs, drive in 120 runs."
Miscellaneous
* Carl Crawford - "I feel fast again"
* Bobby Crosby - worked on hitting with Mark McGwire, had his approach McGwire-itized
* Edwin Encarnacion - trying to be less pull and home run-happy
* Dontrelle Willis - says this is how he threw when he won 22 games

Planning to attempt more stolen bases
* Coco Crisp - "I think I can easily steal 40"..."If I eat my Wheaties"
* Nate McLouth - aiming for 30-35 steals..."Of course last year I aimed for 30-35 home runs"
* Alfonso Soriano - "If I feel healthy this year, I can steal 30 easy"..."But I don't want to, so I won't"
* Willy Taveras - "I can steal 100 bases"..."If I ever get on base 100 times"
Other statistical predictions by players
* Rich Harden - would like to make 30+ starts...and copyright his name so it can't be used in porn movies
* Matt Kemp - Thinks he's capable of 40/40 season...Torre may even think he's capable of moving up from the bottom of the lineup
* Matt Lindstrom - John Baker thinks he can save 45 games...John Baker also knows he can out hit Joe Mauer anyday
* Frank Thomas - "I know I can go out and hit 35 to 40 home runs, drive in 120 runs."....A 1998 quote
Miscellaneous
* Carl Crawford - "I feel fast again"...Tiger Woods- "I feel sexy again"
* Bobby Crosby - worked on hitting with Mark McGwire, had his approach McGwire-itized...."And there's these little things he's been giving me, that are helping me stay healthy, they will not enhance my hitting though"
* Edwin Encarnacion - trying to be less pull and home run-happy...A face only a mother can love. Taking a firecracker to the puss and not having anyone notice will sap the home run happy's right out of you.
* Dontrelle Willis - says this is how he threw when he won 22 games...Of course, it'll be different when actual hitters go up to the plate.
Now read the rest of the story...
