Talking About Other Events

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Feb 24, 2010 12:47 am

I don't have any problem with our die-hard owners playing other fantasy events. In fact, I encourage it because our folks are so good that chances are that they will win these other leagues, thus having more money to spend on our contests!! :D

However, those other contests have their own message boards and thus a place for folks to ask questions about them and talk about their rules, payouts, etc. We don't need to do that here when we are on the brink of selling out many of our events. Go to their message boards if you want to discuss their contest; in fact, they could use a post or two right about now.

I'm not one for deleting threads, but right now our entire focus is on the NFBC and selling out our events. We are having an amazing run right now and we'll let the other contests try to reach their goals on their own while we fill out all of our contests. I hope you understand our position. Let's keep pushing the positive here and stay focused on what we have here. Thanks all.

But right now we want the focus to be on what we're doing here and selling out each of our events. Oh, and selling out that Ultimate League that you're in on Sunday!! So it's all good. Thanks for understanding.

It's all good... I probably should have known... this is just such a great community and place for learning about new things in the fantasy baseball industry... so regarding that Ultimate League, do we think we can fill it up? If not, I would like to consider other options... maybe another Super League or maybe I might do that $800 winner-take-all for the Diamond League next year... which assuming I have the funds I might do regardless next year

Greg, This is your business and you run it the way you wish. I preface this by saying that I love the NFBC and have joined the main for first time and do not do other companies' leagues. To me it is home league and NFBC all the way.

That said, it is a mistake to discourage talk of all leagues. You want to position your boards as the end all-be all for fantasy fanatics to log on everyday. By allowing talk of other companies, you further your board readership and thus increase your exposure to players looking to participate. You want to be everyone's first stop on the web.

Let your game, its participants and owners sell themselves.

I have no stake since I dont even read about the other events, but just a thought.

RT:

I am an atty. If I am Apple and I have a message board that deals with technology. All techies love to go to the Apple message board to discuss latest technology etc. If I am Steve Jobs, do I care if they are talking about Google, Microsoft etc? No, because they are ON MY BOARDS, which means that my branding, my products are getting max exposure AND I get the leg up since I can monitor the boards closest in order to ascertain strategies, trends and developments within the industry.

I can't agree, Doug.

It's like sitting in RT'S pizza place, enjoying the salad and drinks, and then calling Domino's to deliver pizza there.

Bad form.

Dough, I am not going to argue business with you because quips like that are pithier and funnier then actual business logic. Since I dont follow other events, this was a purely intellectual argument, wherein I have no horse running.

now its time for some Mr P pizza...perfect :D ....as an attorney i can see you do not specialize in marketing, such as myself. doughy took the words right out of my mouth. its like owning a pizzeria but advertising other pizza specials around town.....ie business suicide!!! this of course is MY opinion but as i can see i am not in the minority. schwks you probably get OUR point so we will carry on!!! feel free to post over there ;) its all good my brotha!!

RT, Thanks that hypothetical really brought home the point you and Doughboy were trying to make. I guess I am wrong. Cheers and good luck. Doug

How 'bout that Travis Hafner!?

Hey Rick, what makes your pizza better than others?

Do you weigh them?

Thin or deep crust?

New York or Chicago pizza? Whats better?

dave...you better get in the car now to beat the storm...yes another snow storm...yah its great for business

doughy...no pun intended ;) new york style brotha i dont like all that dough. the special angle here is the dough. made fresh daily.. no sugar.. pinch of salt...yeast and water....healthy my man. we use 100 percent whole milk mozz..no blended shiat. our crust is hand tossed but we are not a flair(throwing n tossing in air) pizzeria. it really is an amazing product. the oven is the "rolls royce" of woodburning ovens. ambrogi from milan...ck out the website if you bored...www.mrppizza.com

power of suggestion....wife's homemade pizza for dinner. leftovers in fridge. not as many now.

if/when i get back to east coast/dc area, I'll have to swing over and see if delaware pizza stacks up to geno's east in chicago.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Rick, you may have discovered the greatest marketing campaign of all-time--everyone's talking pizza today. Just talk about other fantasy baseball events, and watch your sales climb through the roof!
