How about play the Superbowl mid March and have Opening Day a week later.
I could care less about the olympics, meaningless NBA regular season or Todd McShay's opinions. March madness is two weeks away and that seems like a lifetime.
No wonder guys start going crazy playing favorites.

No wonder guys start going crazy playing favorites. I think you're on to something here.
If there must be this gap, however, I'm thinking they need to move the seasons around to make sure it happens in June and July.
Speaking as someone stuck in Michigan -- and as I'm sure most of our folks in the Midwest and along the East coast would attest to -- this period wouldn't be half bad if, you know, we could go outside.
Instead, we're stuck inside with nothing to do but wait.
Wait for baseball.
Wait for the sun to come out.
Wait for the snow to melt.
It's the first February in my lifetime where it hasn't hit 40 degrees at least once where I'm at. Thankfully -- and I really mean this -- work keeps me busy, and I don't have too much time to sulk

[/QUOTE]I hear you, and I'm dead serious. Baseball should start earlier and end by Oct 15 so we won't have that ugly, chilly WS like the Phillies-Rays a few years go. Oh, and now the Twins have an open ballpark. Good luck playing there on November 1st.
Football, on the other hand, has no business played in September. Can't play football in 80 degree weather, doesn't feel right. And NFL's always talking about adding an extra week so a mid March SB is not unfathomable.
And they would spare people like me and you the suspense...

Sure, let's move baseball up to mid March when it's still ... oh i don't know ... winter.
Spring training is upon us and I like the Winter Olympics. I'm content waiting for Opening Day until April, which is when it should be. I might be in the minority here, but what a moment tonight seeing that Canadian figure skater win bronze just after her mom died. Quite a moment imho.

The long cold winter makes spring and summer that much the better!
...and it's good for satellites!
The anticipation and the wait between football and baseball is akin to the wait of a young child for Christmas morning...it seems to never come...but when it does...BOY when it does!
