Hotel rooms in Vegas

Does anyone have some suggestions for places to stay in Las Vegas that are cheaper than the Bellagio but no too far away?

Do any other hotels offer free transportation to Bellagio, or is everything through taxi?

If you stay at a place like Excalibur, how far of a walk is it from there to Bellagio?

Thanks in advance. Excaliber is a bit of a walk. Planet Hollywood, Paris ,Ballys,Monte Carlo would probably be your best bets.On the real cheap side Flamingo or Harrahs is an easy walk.

Auction King,

You can catch the monorail that goes from Mandalay Bay all the way up the strip to the Sahara for 8 bucks one way and I think 12 round trip for 24 hours...It makes stops all along the strip (Bellagio) 24 hours a day. Doesn't really matter what hotel you stay, your preference. Save $$$ by avoiding taxis....hope this helps..

Plan ahead as some monrail stops are tricky and lengthen the your arrival time. Vegas.com may be a good site to check on deals. Try www.retailmenot.com as well.

Better just to walk or take a taxi.

The cheapest place with the shortest walk is probably the Imperial Palace. If you are one who cares nothing about what the room is like, but want to be closest to the mostest, that's usually it. Bally's sometimes has nice room rates, and is very close. Same same for Bill's Gambling Hall (Formerly Barbary Coast). Bill's is old, but someone told me the rooms have been updated and are fairly nice. The Flamingo was once a decent option. But since Greg seems more than a little ticked at them, and Greg gets along with everyone, they are from this point further blackballed.

Catch the monorail across the street at MGM from Excalibur, just rode it last week, and numerous times before...drops off easy walking distance to Bellagio...you can be at Bellagio from Excalibur in 10-15 minutes..

If you're looking for cheap options in Vegas, here are the two best, cheapest and closest. The Imperial Palace on the strip has rooms available for an average of $70 per night, and is about a 10 minute walk from the Bellagio (across the street and down a block and a half). If you don't mind off-strip, the Gold Coast has rooms for $34 per night and is about a 20 minute walk (right across the street from the Palms) down Flamingo Blvd. They would both be a quicker walk than from the Excalibur.

BAMA is right the walk from Excalibur to Bellagio is faster than the monorail from MGM to Bally's. In order to get on the monorail you would have to walk @ the back end of both properties. As for Gold Coast, the Excalibur is a closer walk to the Bellagio. If you decide on Gold Coast, you have to walk past Rio and cross the I-15 bridge, no thanks.

The Tuscany is right down Flamingo Rd and I just got a room for Fri and Sat night for $76 per.

My suggestion would be Harrah's, Bally's, or Imperial Palace. All located within reasonable walking distance which is paramount if you are looking to watch costs.

I stayed at the IP last year. Rooms were OK and access to Flamingo, Ballys, Bellagio, Caesars was easy enough. No complaints with accommodations but no bells and whistles like the higher price places. Bonus feature was drunk college girl who flashed her rack at the drunks one floor above me. Nice view.

The Imperial Palace is quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, not just in Vegas but anywhere.

I'd second the recommendation on Tuscany if you're looking to go the cheap route (assuming it's still $76/night). I stayed there once, not very ritzy but rooms are spacious and clean and it's right next to Bally's and you won't have to worry about catching a disease by sleeping there (unlike IP).

Before internet, my wife and I being married all of one year, we answered an ad to stay at the Prince Albert Hotel in Vegas.

When we checked in, we noticed that three locks on the door had been broken and the two others were barely attached. The tv had prison type bars around it to match the ones across the windows. We decided we couldn't stay. On our way back to the registration desk, we were approached by a hooker.

In front of my wife, she says, "Would you like to have some fun for $20?"

I said, "Uh, I'm married?!"

She said, "That'd be $30!"

Ah, good times.

Anyway, that was the worst hotel that we didn't stay at.
