The Plan For Conditional Bids Software

Okay, I'm in St. Louis now and I just saw the Conditional Bids template for all NFBC leagues. This is looking extremely nice and has the same functional features NFBC owners have enjoyed the last two years with a little addition. More news to come shortly, but the layout is complete and everything looks GREAT!!

The plan now is to have a demo site available within the next week for folks to see where we're at. Current members who are signed up for 2010 events will definitely have access to this demo site in the next week and you can see for yourselves what this looks like. We'll certainly have this live the week that your leagues use FAAB and likely even sooner than that.

I know there was a lot of concern this weekend about the Conditional Bids feature and the rest of FAAB, and some folks thought this process wasn't even started here. But I'm looking at it now and it looks GREAT. You'll see for yourselves soon. Kudos to Cory, John and the entire IT team. This looks solid.

Sound good? I hope this helps and we look forward to your feedback and input once you get to run this setup. Thanks all.

That's great Greg - me I personally wasn't really worried about this.

For me and others doing Sat drafts in the coming weeks - getting access to the draft software to start inputting lists and getting familiar with the draft room is the most important thing right now. I realize this doesn't mean as much to Main Event players as the FAAB element- but for many players - especially many first time players - THESE drafts will be their most important ones in the NFBC this year. Hopefully we can get in there this week and get ready for our upcoming SAT drafts.

One would hope. But one shouldn't assume.

One would hope. But one shouldn't assume. As long as I can test drive it before the drafts, I'm fine.

PS - GREG/TOM/GEOFF - The first sunday that FAAB runs, you better get a case of your favorite beer and park yourself on the MB (just in case). ;)

45 of us are drafting online for the main event. I don't want to bet $1300 on a new computer program without a couple of weeks to try it out & learn to use

That sounds pretty much like the same song and dance. As a new player in the NFBC who bought the hype about how great it is I have to say it's pretty disappointing. 11 days away from my draft and I do not know where I'm drafting or if I am using software for the first time, my league is not full and I have no draft position to plan for. This is where the experts come to play? I would ask for a refund but I now have missed out on other leagues. I won't miss them next year. The "live league" is even more of a mystery!

I am apprehensive as well. You are new here, so you are probably beyond apprehensive, and just want to see results.

Granted, you caught the NFBC at a time of transition.

Sure, there's going to be griping as the season grows closer, there are a lot of unknown variables.

When Greg says that he saw it working splendidly, you can put it in the bank. One thing you will learn, is that Greg is as trustworthy as Aunt Bee.

In two weeks, all the feelings that are running through your mind now, will be gone. You will be more concerned with how your team looks.

AND, You will be back next year.

Why?

This is where the best play, and you want to be a part of that.

Don't you?

Again, we are tweaking this right down to the last bug because we know what will happen when we unveil this software and first impressions will be posted on these boards. We want to be as perfect as possible coming out of the gate. We are almost there and hopefully today is the day.

Untouchables, you can call me at 715-254-5553 to talk about any of your apprehensions. I'm not sure what you mean by your league isn't full, but if you're in a satellite league those will either fill or Tom will get you in a full league. As for the software, it should be unveiled today and it won't take you 11 days to learn how to drive this new car. Maybe 11 minutes. It's the same type of draft software you've likely used before, but hopefully better. Our software can sort players by category, so if in the 20th round you still need some cheap steals click on SBs and it will sort accordingly to last year's stats. You can import your own rankings quickly, so finish those now and you'll be good to go as soon as you get access to the draft room.

I understand the apprehension from some folks, but we're not reinventing the wheel on any of this. The draft software will be similar to what you've used in the past, the conditional bids feature has been upgraded and the back-end will have 5x5, live scoring, live standings and the rest.

It's all good, but for those on the ledge, call me before you jump off.

Okay, I wanted to update this thread this morning anyway, just to talk about a few of the features on this part of the software that I saw yesterday.

The Move feature is as easy as it gets here. If you have, let's say, 10 Conditional Bids all at $1 and then want to move any of those, there is an up and a down arrow next to each player and you just click up or down next to that player. Simple as can be and you can move any of your $1 conditional bids in less than a second.

There is going to be a Copy To New List feature if you want to create a second Free Agent Bid List and want the same 10 or whatever number conditional bids. There's a Delete List button if you want to start over and of course delete buttons next to each player if you want to delete some individually.

I hope this helps. Again, we'll have a demo site for all to see with these features in the next week so you can have even more assurance that this is the tool you wanted on Sundays. Thanks all.
I feel like I inadvertently whipped some of the new players up so my first advice is "Step back from the cliff. I'll add to what Dan already said by saying that while I have many of the same questions as you - I have the benefit of knowing that Greg and Tom will do whatever it takes to get things right. Do I wish I already had access to certain things - sure. Am I okay waiting a couple more days - yes.

I posted just to make sure the concerns of SAT league players were noted. You can trust that they have been. Do what I am doing and start making your lists to input. Come ask some questions at the Rookie Forum. If you have any questions about your prep feel free to PM me as well.

This IS where the experts come to play!

And since it is, that should curb any players apprehensions. Guys are shelling out 10K a league and they don't have there draft slots yet either.

Thanks and have a nice day.
What if A-Rod or Hanley blows out a knee tomorrow morning -- wouldn't you want the chance to adjust your KDS for a league that isn't drafting for three weeks? That would certainly change the way most look at things, wouldn't it?

Believe me, folks, you're going to get your draft spots with plenty of time to prepare. Just trust in what we're doing -- there's a method to our madness :)

I understand the apprehension from some folks,

It's all good, but for those on the ledge, call me before you jump off. I realize I'm a small fish in this big ocean and really I am not apprehensive. Just surprised by the laissez-faire attitude that prevails. I think my concerns are simple enough.

1. I would like to see the software I'll be drafting with and get a chance to work with it at least a few times before the real draft.

2. I would like to have my league closed and the draft position set so I can prepare my draft lists.

3. I do not think it's too much to ask to have this information now. Not a week from now two days before the draft.

If this is "normal" procedure than quite frankly I am in the wrong place. I have never been involved in a fantasy baseball league I considered "serious" and still not aware of the draft order inside of a week.
