Joe Nathan left Saturday's game against the Red Sox for "precautionary reasons" because of soreness in his right elbow.

Remember that Nathan had bone chips removed from his right elbow in October, so even the slightest discomfort will get the club's attention. We'll see how his body responds in the coming days.

JoNa is so good, he can learn to pitch left handed in about three weeks. No worries Bobby.

Nathan went for only $17 last night in LABR. He came out early and most folks stayed away. Heck, Bobby Jenks went for $16, Rafael Soriano went for $19 and Kerry Wood went for $14. That tells you what the news about Nathan meant to LABR owners.

It was a battle, but a fun one with Shawn taking the wheel from me and surprising me with some last second bids. I gave him the evil eye a few times, but we're laughing about it now!!

"Saw a replay of the last pitch that Joe Nathan threw on Saturday, and after he released the ball, you could see him flinch a little bit, then recoil. I don't know what's going on in Nathan's elbow, but I have heard from other pitchers that scar tissue sometimes tears after surgery. That can be a scary feeling, but it's basically harmless. Nathan said he felt tightness in his elbow, but he won't assume anything about his condition until he's re-evaluated Sunday"

I like how fantasy sites say "torn ulner collateral ligament" so his "season is at risk". Way to take a strong stand, wussies. As if there is a possibility that Nathan will pitch with a torn ligament in his elbow!

I got a laugh out of that as well. Especially the part where he'll wait for the swelling to go down and throw again. :D

i hope all the slow drafters from january and february that took Nathan in the 5th round had Rauch and/or Guerrier as a backup...

I am in a slow draft right now that is getting close to the end (Nathan went Rd10, P6).

Who do you see closing in Minny now? Neshek? Guerrier? Rauch? Mijares? Maybe the dreaded closer by committie?

I'd like to take a guess on one of these guys and draft him now at the end. I am leaning toword Rauch. Just a hunch.

IMO, it doesn't matter who closes in Minn., it's not close to Nathan, he's been the most dominating closer the last 3-4 years. anybody else who closes, could be just another hit or miss situation.
