Main Event Start Times

I thought of something this morning. Didn't know if this had been discussed before but.....

We used to start the drafts in all cities at the exact same time because they were all done on the same date and we didn't want any city to have the advantage of tracking info from other cities.

Now that there are two weekends of drafts, the concept of having all main event draft results secret until all other leagues had drafted doesn't really apply anymore. There will be plenty of owners in weekend two that know some results of weekend one drafts. So, it wouldn't really matter if the NYC draft on a certain date started a couple hours before the Vegas draft.

Since that whole secrecy thing is kind of out the window, it might not be necessary to start all the drafts at the same time. I am specifically thinking of Vegas, where a noon or 1pm start time might be more logical. That seems to be the preferred time to start, since it is the start time in the other 3 cities.

I'm not suggesting doing it for this year - I understand that people have based travel plans including flights around the draft times. But, something to think about next year might be to start each city's drafts at noon or 1pm - whatever Greg/Tom choose.

It would give drafters in Vegas a little more time to get ready in the morning (possibly after a late night of betting on basketball or gambling!) and it would make it so that the draft doesn't go straight through lunch.

However slim the chance, there is always the possibility of news being released in that 2-3 hour window between the NYC and Vegas start times. All starting at the same time gives all the same info at draft time.

I think Freddie's got a point here. ADPs for the first weekend will be known by the time the second weekend rolls on, so there's no point of having the drafts at the same time. Needless to say, 10 AM is not the ideal time to do anything serious in Vegas as the brain is still pretty much farting.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I think the whole "starting at the same time" rule has little value. What valuable info am I going to get from a draft that has already happened? While ADPs are curious stats, they are not an important ingredient of my drafting strategy.

There are other drafts going on in Vegas later in the afternoon after the Main Event; Changing would only cause problems.
