Upper Deck to Sponsor Combined Standings!

Post by Ryan E. Houston » Sun Mar 14, 2010 2:12 pm

Last week Greg announced that we are giving away cash prizes for the combined standings.

Now we are upping the ante!

Upper Deck has come in with a sponsorship of some great weekly prizes.

In the past, we gave these away to a variety of leagues and we wanted to do something to help push the only league that we have not completely sold out: Double Play.

So here is what we are going to do. On top of the $9500 we are giving away in Combined Standings prize money - we are going to give away a weekly Combined Standings prize. Yes, if you have a Classic + Double Play (Online or Live) - you will get grouped into the Combined Standings and we will give away a prize to the top team each week.

Here is a list of the great prizes we have on hand:

Week 1: Adam Jones Autographed Baseball

Week 2: Andrew McCutchen Autographed Baseball

Week 3: Adrian Gonzalez Autographed Baseball

Week 4: Adrian Gonzalez Autographed Baseball w/ 1st MLB HR Inscription

Week 5: Albert Pujols 2009 NL MVP Logo Autographed Baseball

Week 6: Austin Jackson Autographed Baseball

Week 7: Ben Sheets Autographed Baseball

Week 8: Brandon Wood Autographed Baseball

Week 9: Colby Rasmus Autographed Baseball

Week 10: Evan Longoria Autographed Black Bat

Week 11: Evan Longoria Autographed Baseball

Week 12: Grady Sizemore Autograph Baseball

Week 13: Grady Sizemore 2007 MLB All Star Game Autographed Baseball

Week 14: Ian Stewart Autographed Baseball

Week 15: James Loney Autographed Baseball

Week 16: Jordan Schafer Autographed Baseball

Week 17: Josh Reddick Autographed Baseball

Week 18: Ken Griffey Jr. Autographed 600 HR Logo Baseball

Week 19: Ken Griffey Jr. Autographed Baseball

Week 20: Lars Anderson Autographed Baseball

Week 21: Hunter Pence Autographed Baseball

Week 22: Matt Kemp Autographed Baseball

Week 23: Matt Laporta Autographed Baseball

Week 24: Nolan Ryan Rangers Autographed Home/White Jersey - Unframed

Week 25: Russell Martin Autographed Baseball

Week 26: Russell Martin Home White Dodgers #55 Autographed Jersey - Unframed

Additionally, for those of you playing in the NFBC Classic, we will have 9 Great Prizes to give away following draft day!

Here is how this is going to work. The NFBC Classic Owner who drafts the following players the highest of ALL NFBC Classic Drafts will get one of the following prizes:

Adam Jones Autographed Baseball

Andrew McCutchen Autographed Baseball

Adrian Gonzalez Autographed Baseball

Austin Jackson Autographed Baseball

Colby Rasmus Autographed Baseball

Evan Longoria Autographed Baseball

Grady Sizemore Autographed Baseball

James Loney Autographed Baseball

Matt Kemp Autographed Baseball

So, if you draft Adam Jones the highest of all NFBC Classic Drafts across the country (Las Vegas, St. Louis, Atlantic City, New York & Chicago) -- you'll get that ball. We have those 9 unique gifts to give away to the NFBC Classic this year.

So thanks to UpperDeck.com for this great opportunity and we are excited that they've jumped on board in 2010. The excitement continues and now you have even more incentive to jump into the NFBC Double Play.

Help us get that filled up -- and 2010 will be a HOME RUN!

** You must have a team in both the Double Play (Live or Online) + NFBC Classic to qualify for one of the 26 prizes listed above.

** The team that drafts that player (same player as the item autographed) the highest across all our NFBC Classic drafts -- will get that prize!

Enjoy everyone!

So if i really wanted a Evan Longoria autographed baseball i could take him first overall and that would basically get it for me.

Thats a cool feature. I wonder if some people might jump on a guy a little earlier in hopes to get the memorabalia.

Where were you in '08 Ryan Houston? I could've had a J-Roll ball (and maybe a Lincecum in '09).

This is gonna be fun.

New draft strategy-- KDS pick #15. Go Gonzalez (1), Sizemore (2), McCutchen (3), Jones (4), Loney (5), SP, RP, Rasmus (8), SP, RP, and finally Jackson (11)... Worth $1350? :D

Pretty cool giveaways! Thank you!

Giving those last 9 prizes to the team that that drafts the players the latest would add more intrigue. The way you set it up probably alters the draft a lot more than you would think. Just my opinion.

So who wins the autographed prizes for the select players based on where they were drafted?

Please update this list and announce the winners of these prizes.

As of now there are winners for the weekly prizes for weeks 1 & 2 and there are some people that should be receiving autographed baseballs in the mail based on the draft results.

Hopefully we can get the weekly period standings updated/showing as some of these prizes are really nice and i'm sure people would like to know going into saturday/sunday if they have a chance.

BUMP I will get the winners' names tomorrow. I don't have the actual leagues on the file I'm looking at yet and we have some tie-breakers to deal with. But for the most part this worked well and we will reward the earliest drafters with these prizes. Here are the facts and some of you may know who you are already:

Adam Jones Autographed Baseball (63rd overall, 1 team)

Andrew McCutchen Autographed Baseball (34th overall, 1 team)

Adrian Gonzalez Autographed Baseball (17th overall, 2 teams)

Austin Jackson Autographed Baseball (193rd overall, 1 team)

Colby Rasmus Autographed Baseball (179 overall, 1 team)

Evan Longoria Autographed Baseball (2 teams at 6th overall)

Grady Sizemore Autographed Baseball (16th overall, 1 team)

James Loney Autographed Baseball (132nd overall, 1 team)

Matt Kemp Autographed Baseball (5th overall, 2 teams)

Thanks to Upper Deck Authenticated for this and we'll get the names of the winners announced soon and then get their addresses to UDA for prize fulfillment. Thanks all.

Greg,

Anything on this? Any list of the weekly winners? Any update on the standings/stats by period.

I would hope you have figured this out by now since prizes were promised and part of the game.

I say we just bag it. Nobody responds, so it must not be happening.

[/QUOTE]Jason, the update is that we are now waiting on the update on Upper Deck. You can do a Google search to see the troubles that are taking place since they agreed to sponsor the Weekly Prizes and we heard from them yesterday about their status. It's not good. So we are still talking with our contacts there and doing what we can to get a final answer from Upper Deck.

I was in St. Louis this week and the MLB YTD stats and period tabs with sortable categories are at the top of the IT list. I want those sooner than you do and hopefully we can get them to determine the weekly winners. I'm pushing, I really am.

We have another Weekly Prizes sponsor possibly lined up to replace UD Authenticated if they don't come through, so stay tuned. We are scrambling because we never expected this from Upper Deck. They were so excited to work with us on many fronts, but this is a much bigger issue than a sponsorship program with us. This involves the MLBPA and the future of their company.

I'll give an update on that and an update on the Period tabs for overall standings as soon as I know more. Sorry all for the delays and the hiccups there, but we'll get it done.

Once again Ryan Houston has been able to pull a fast one on us.

Lets just take away some of the prizes that we offered to our participants and incentive to join. unreal...

I think it is way too early to pin this one on E. To be clear I think he is a snake oil salesman and I would absolutely hate to work for him. How could have he have seen this one coming? A reputable organization made a promise and now based upon bigger issues is not delivering. The question is does he dig in to Fanball resources and keep his promise or does he ignore/spin through it? We need to give him some time to adjust- my guess is then you will get a shot to call him out so just be patient!

This is all on Upper Deck, unfortunately. Check out the New York Times from April 17th and you'll see why they don't have the product they promised us in March for this contest. It's very unfortunate as this was my contact to bring in these prizes, my dealings with them and what I thought was a great add-on to the NFBC through my dealings with them. To pin any of this on Ryan is just stupid.

Fortunately, Ryan and Jim Enright used their contacts to find an immediate replacement. I have that done now, but I need to talk with Upper Deck out of courtesy first. You folks jumped to the gun already, so rather than explain the rest I'll just shut up and stay off the boards until all is resolved.

No fast one Dirt Dogs, just another company struggling in this economy and they couldn't deliver what they had promised. It's a shame. But we'll still have weekly prizes thanks to the guys at Fanball. Stay tuned for more details.
