Last post by Greg on entries was for 188. That is just 7 short of last year and there are about 43 more day - maybe just 38 until the draft order is set. The question I pose is the over/under of the final entry count. I would love to see this thing totally fill up with one additional league emcompassing some players from each city, however, I would bet against that.
What about 270 (18 leagues) as the over/under count? If that was the Vegas line, which side would you go for?

Gimme the over.
I bet they MAX out at 315 once all the advertising comes out.

Vegas is almost full already with NCAA Tourneys and Comdex conventions and such. I bet it rounds to 285. I'll take the over, but inside the spread.

I'll go the over. Chicago could be the key though.
Best odds of winning it all would probably be in Chicago. Not sure why its so slow for signups???
JAR stop posting and signup already! Las Vegas will go 10 leagues, NY 7 Chicago 3.

Just checking how close I am to being locked out of Vegas?
I'm about 90%...just need to ease the wife into yet another Vegas trip without her.
Could the Vegas room accomodate a few more leagues if the demand was there?

We have 23 more spots for the space allocated. Trust me Lance, I'm BEGGING the Rio for more space. There's a damn sewing convention there that weekend that has space allocated! I'm not making that up, either.

I like the 270 number now. It seems that Vegas limited to 8 leagues (never knew that the sewing industry was involved so heavily with gambling otherwise why hold a convention in Vegas). I foresee the likelihood of Chicago getting 3+ leagues and New York getting 6+ leagues. That would give you 17 full one-city leagues and a single multi-city league.

I will take the over, but then again, I am a Braves fan, so what do I know!

it seems that Vegas would be the likely place to make up for Chicago and New York, that will hold the number under the 300 total. Have you already talked to the Rio about expanding for next year, before the National Crossstitchers of America book the entire hotel for that weekend

Hey Greg, I volunteer to help organize a couple drafts to be held down the street a ways at Cheetahs.... our 30 will load up in limos and head down there to draft so you'll have some extra space at the Rio...

bumping this up
The count was 188 on Feb 2. Nineteen days later it is 252.
I suggested an over/under of 270 and it is beginning to look like the over may prevail. Maybe the question should be will 300 be reached? The answer may depend on the maximum number of Vegas players allowed.
Will there be a discounted price for Chicago next year? Something needs to be done to get people to balmy Chicago in mid-March. Hell, even Greg flies the coop and goes to Vegas.

I told Dyv not to bet against me!! He said 285 and that's possible. All I know is that we're at 252 now with 19 days left. In the last eight days of registration last year, we added 43 signups. I like our chances to reach 300 this year!!! There are a few returning NFBC owners who are still holding out, so don't wait too long.
Will we hit 300? What do you think?
We'll also top 100 signups for the auction leagues. Between all of the events, including the Ultmate Leagues, we'll have over 450 registrations this year compared to 232 last year. Not a bad increase in one year.

Greg - Knowing your work ethic I say 300 is a given. Next year 360 and 420 the year after. Maybe, just maybe, someday you'll get some rest.
Best regards,
Pete

Greg, when you get to 315, where are you going to increase the prizes, the league or overall?

Great job Greg and Tom and others behind the scenes!
Although it may be tiresome...the constant interaction...I believe...is a major selling point. But most importantly...I believe you do it with passion for the game/competition...more than salesmanship...and that's great!
Although we fail to admit it...most are creatures who long for attention and communication. It sounds silly...but it's true.
You have a great thing here...and although you may eventually expand to the Bay Area...and make it super easy for many million sports nuts to drive to...I'd still like an excuse to bail for Vegas!

I remember talking to you at the 11th hour last year and you were busting your hump to scrape up those last few entries

The goal is 300, however I have stated that if we have partial leagues -- like 5 leftovers in New York, 5 in Chicago and 5 in Las Vegas -- and that was on like March 8th, I'd be a fool not to try to expand to 315 and get a full league in at least one of those cities. We would then increase second place $500 in those 21 leagues to make it $2,250 for second place and increase third place by $150 to make that $900. That way everyone benefits.
I have not decided what my goal will be for 2006 at this point, but I have great options to expand in Tampa as two area hotels are happy to have us join them near the Yankees' training camp. Four cities would be great. But I do know that my first order of business is to increase second place league prizes to $2,500 and third place to $1,000 and then increase the overall 2nd through 10th higher. It might be $125,000 for the grand prize in 2006 with bigger league prizes and better overall prizes. That's the goal.
Now, Cellar Dwellers, are you ready to rejoin us yet or are you still waiting to be contestant number 300??

Best regards,
Pete Let me just say that I've gotten MUCH more sleep this year than last year. Not only did we struggle to reach 195 last year and guarantee the prize pool, but my daughter got sick just before the signup deadline and went in the hospital. It was just crazy. I remember spending that final weekend in the office with my four-year-old playing on the computer next to me, grandma taking care of my boy and my wife in the hospital with my daughter. It seems like a bad dream now that I think of it.
This year, all is well and those black bags under my eyes are gone!

Hey, Greg, let me make my plug again! Forget Tampa. If you head south, try Biloxi. Lots of casinos! Baby Vegas!

Andy really wants to play. He's just wary of fellow owners screaming at him and calling him a scumbag.
Quite a second half for Cliff Lee, huh?

Not worried about that in the least, KOQ's

Just getting some personal business out of the way, I'll be in any day now and look forward to playing again and hanging with you in NYC. Cliff Lee's second half kind of mirrored your fall from grace in the first half in the NFBC, no?

Wow, I'm taking a beating the last day or two. Yeah, my team was rocking for the first two months. I was first overall after a week and a half (have the autographed Clemens cap to prove it!), hovered in the Top 10 through late May, then...
CRASH
Glad to hear that my favorite scumbag will be back. Let's hook up sometime over the weekend...

Stop with the scumbag stuff already, it's old bro. You get on the Baltisquids for continually bringing up the laptop but you're still bringing up something from a year ago. All in fun, see you in NYC.
