Why do people paying by check get free insurance?

I don't understand the rationale for this. It would seem to put those who don't pay by check at a disadvantage because they cannot take a gamble on a potentially risky player. Shouldn't there be an even playing field for all participants regardless of method of payment?

Answer = Paying by check saves Fanball a ton of money from credit card processing fees.
If someone reaches for a risky player to get the insurance the advantage is yours!

This is not for taking a risky behavior in say round 10; I forgot how it is but it is limited; and how is it not an even playing field? It is not like you get an advantage in the standings...

It is not an even playing field because not every participant gets free insurance.

I cant believe the stuff that people bitch about. If you don't like this or the fact that there are two weekends of drafts or the fact that people can buy multiple teams...go play in a different league.

I have already paid by credit card I did not know about the "pay by check" perk. Nobody's bitcin HS. Just don't understand why free insurance is offered depending on method of payment. If I send cash, do I get 2 free insurance players?

One insured played; and Einstein there is no advantage in regards to who wins the game; if you had you are the type of guy that would draft Ben Sheets in round 3 show you could get some money back; another thing Einstein, a person has to be placed on the 60 day DL to qualify; this was ONLY promoted to give those who paid by check a small return on their investment if something happened to a star player; YOU HAVE TO IDENTIFY THE *1* PLAYER YOU WANT TO INSURE!!! Now if you think this is an UNEVEN playing field, PICK UP YOUR BALL AND RUN HOME TO MOMMY!!!

I guess what is troubling to me is that I don't even know what you guys are talking about outside of this message thread.
I am not complaining, just noting a potential loophole in communication here.
I went out about 3 weeks ago to purchase a fantasy mag for my home leagues. I thumb through and stumble upon this contest. I played once in '04 (WCOFB). I go to Vegas every year for the NCAA's and decide I'll play a team while I am out there this year. I call the phone number on the website, sign up, pay by credit card, and nothing about insurance is even mentioned - heck, I still don't even know what it is fully about even now. If I would have know I could have some "insurance" (again, whatever that is), I probably would have taken advantage and mailed in a check for the same cost.
Again, no complaints here. Just maybe a post to communicate to Greg/Ryan/Tom about fully explaining this option and making sure it is available to all the contestants.
While we're at it here - can someone fully explain it somewhere in this thread?
Thanks

Hey Jim Christie Brinkley. Is it that time of the month for you?? Sorry, I didn't realize my simple question would push you over the edge. I guess you are one of those who paid by check. You sound like you would need the insurance.

You only get like 200 bucks back or something like that based on a main event entry. It's has nothing to do with playing field and standings and performance.

And weren't there only a couple players who this affected last year?
Chances are it won't make much difference, but like someone said....some peoplejust have to find SOMETHING to bitch about!

Thanks The link for insurance is under the Learn More header:
http://nfbc.fanball.com/learnmore/fanta ... urance.php
As for providing this to everyone, we had to stop offering the insurance policy at a certain point or we'd be chasing checks up to the last day of the event. You could only pay by credit card after Feb. 15th to ensure payment by everyone. I hope this helps.
This link explaining the insurance has been up on the site for months and it has been fully explained on several threads. Again, we stopped offering this at the end because we needed guaranteed payment by those signing up at the end.

Nobody crying here, Christie. You obviously misread my post or you are too stupid to know the difference between asking a question and bitchin.
