Had a great time there today for the auction. Felt like the kings of the world with the stadium in the background.

Thanks guys.

I agree, that it was nice to look out and see the field and the auction was a great time - as it always is.

I will say though, there was one thing that summed up the Mets in general - the ceiling was leaking - not to the point of an issue with NFBC, but still funny in that the buiding hasn't even seen the second season yet, and there are already buckets to capture the drips!

Great time - I prefer the city because it's easier to get to - but still a great event. A little bit noisy, but not to the point where anything was ruined at all.

Citifield was great. Unbelievable place to draft. Walking up to the stadium of champions ;) , getting ready to enter for a full day of drafting was an absolute kick.

It was also great to see again and/or meet and talk baseball, fantasy, strategy, look over the boards or bullshit with Tom, Seth, Charlie, Jeff (thanks for the ride Bud), Mark, Marty, Ryan, Mike, Craig, Jason & dozens of others that share a passion for fantasy sports. It's nice to put faces to the names you always see on these boards.

It was also interesting to watch or review the drafts of all the industry professionals that were there yesterday (it'll be interesting to monitor how these teams work out during the season). The camera crews also added to the feel that something special was going on.

For those who haven't tried a live draft through the NFBC yet, all I can say is if you can swing it, swing it. It's a blast. Nothing like a hundred or so drafters drafting at the same time, and then all walking around checking out the other drafts and talking baseball afterwards.

All in all, it was just a great, great day.

Thanks Tom, Greg, & Ryan. Looking forward to the football drafts, only 160 days or so to go.

Glenn

Glenn Thanks for the posts guys from New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Atlantic City and Las Vegas everyone. We have worked extra hard to make each of these venues and drafts special this year and I think you can now see that in person. Anyone can rent out a boardroom at a hotel, say they are going to pay out a great grand prize and say they will take care of you. But it's another thing to really make it happen and really make it special at the type of venues we've picked out this year.

We try to talk to as many of our customers as possible to get feedback and suggestions from them. But nothing helps us more than hearing from as many of you as possible on these boards after the drafts are done. From the layout of the rooms to the facilitators to the food, we want to hear from you. We take great pride in running these first class events and we know that as great as these were these past two weekends, there are ways to make them better.

I hope to hear from my Bellagio brethren soon to see what they thought of the incredible setup this weekend, but they must all be sleeping yet. :D But no posts can mean good things on these boards, so right now that silence is golden!! :D Either that or I bought them too many Corona's yesterday to get any feedback today!! :D

Citi Field sounded spectacular and well run. Good job Tom, Charlie and the gang out there. Good job to Mike and his team in St. Louis and Chicago these past two weekends. I heard from several folks who drafted in St. Louis last weekend that we should return there next year and we will. Great job all.

And kudos to our team out here. We worked our asses off out here, but we still have more work to do today. The Diamond League is in a SPECTACULAR room and that should be fun. Wayne Gretzky had a celebrity charity poker tournament in that room Friday night, so we'll follow up his performance today with a "shot and a goal!!" Should be a blast.

Good luck all this week. The fun is just beginning.

I echo the comments of everyone else. My Double Play today was great and a lot of fun. To stand up from my chair and see a fantastic view of Citi Field is a setting that can't be beat for a fantasy baseball draft.

Great job by Tom, Charlie and the rest of the NY Fanball crew.

It's great to hear the positive feedback. Citi Field was definitely a lot of fun. The staff there was great to work with, the environment was terrific and it was great seeing many familiar faces and meeting a lot of new NFBC participants as well. I wish the weather had cooperated a little better but there wasn't anything we could do about that.

Overall, there was a lot to like about Citi Field and I took a tour of the stadium on Sunday and there may be even more we could do there in the future if it works out for us to return there. We'll see.

It was a great two weeks for the NFBC on the East Coast. Atlantic City was great and Citi Field was great as well. Hopefully everyone who drafted there enjoyed the experience as much as myself, Charlie, Seth, Ted, Noah, Kyle and Jason did.

great job all around by the NY Fanball crew. First class all the way......

I facilitated and even did a double play draft over the weekend in NY and I had a fantastic time. It was great talking baseball and getting to know many of you owners from the auctions/main event and double plays.

New York was a lot of fun. The Sunday was the better day because of the view of the field. Seemed weird to be at Citi on Saturday and although the room was huge, it had a view of the subway, not the field.

The food was kind of awful on Saturday...wings were gone by the time I got there. Burgers were flat out terrible.

The event, however, was run fantastically. Our moderator was friendly, professional, knowledgable (he was blogging for Tout Wars Mixed on Sunday and let me into the room to watch for a 1/2 hour). Same for the moderator on Sunday at the Live DOuble Play. Great guy, knowledgable, friendly, funny and efficient.

The sticker guys, a job Ive done in my home league, were unbelievably good. If you have ever done this...it is not easy especially if pace gets a bit quick.

TOm, Charlie and the crew had the whole operation humming in perfect sync. It was great to finally meet Tom and chat a bit on Sunday.

I guess the one thing I did not like, but is unavoidable, is hearing the leagues around you drafting. I dont see any way of avoiding this unless you have a huge or electroninc draft board that everyone can see, so players dont have to be called out.

Overall, it was a great experience, that given the size, was run really well and professionally.

One criticism I have is that the food was not available prior to the start of draft. (Except for potato chips and popcorn.) Food was brought out at 2:00. Most leagues reached the first break around the same time. As such, the line for food was very long. This delayed the drafts because people had to be given the time to get and eat their lunch. It would make sense to have food available starting at 12:00. This would allow lots of us to eat prior to the draft and thus reduce the length of the line during breaks.

Kevin Thanks for the feedback Kevin, but I don't think it makes sense to feed people before the draft. I would hope that everyone can feed themselves beforehand and come to the draft with a full stomach. My goal is to give folks feed after they've drafted a few hours so in Las Vegas we served the food after the second break. I hope we can continue it that way in the future and if folks know that is the plan, then they can plan accordingly with food before they arrive on Draft Day.

I have seen the team over at HQ - don't want to overstep my bounds by posting their team for them - but I did respond to the thread suggesting that they might want to post it here as well for fun - we'll see.

Aren't all the major drafts complete? I was in his league and will say that he has Zobrist, Braun, Anderson, Strasburg around round 15-16, Chris Davis at first, Sandoval, Abreu, sonnanstine in round 20, Heath Bell and Lindstrom.

If anything his pitching is sketchy but that's why they play the games.

He is also counting heavily on Pedroia and Bartlett along with later picks that will be in his lineup at the start including Harang, Ian Kennedy, Prado, Soto, and possibly Vanden Hurk. His pitching is as thin as a toothpick.

-Craig Some guy said, "Sonnanstine must halt dominance drift and regain fine control to have any shot at returning to fantasy relevance."

Either Ron thinks he has recaptured his control, or he wasn't listening to that guy.

Ron came up to me after his draft and told me how much he enjoyed everything. He said he liked the people he met, the event itself and everything about it. He was a very happy customer and that was great to hear. He said he plans to return next year. Even better.

Sonnanstine has always been an HQ guy or at least one they keep mentioning to keep an eye on, but at the end of the day he's a junk ball pitcher who would need to sign a deal with the devil like Scott Feldman to have a good year. And who's job is he stealing?

I have nothing against a Sonnanstine selection, just to be clear, but to take him before round 30 is a big mistake. Nobody drafted him in ANY league to my knowledge except for Ron.

Ron's hitting is solid and his team will be actively crashing the SPs through FAAB. ( against me ) so his team is very much in the hunt this year.

I would just like to add to this thread to say that the Mets' officials that we work with also thought this was a very cool event. I got an email on Friday night from our contact there who said "SOOOOOOOOOO COOL" in the subject head. She thought the setup was very good and was impressed with the auctions and the draft formats. We will definitely talk with them again about hosting this at Citi Field...unless a better offer comes around, of course. ;) Anyone have the Yankees' number? :D
