Lindy Hinkelman: Way To Go Champ

Before we get into the next season, I want to congratulate Lindy Hinkelman one last time for the historic season he put together in 2009. MLB teams have ring ceremonies before their Opening Day home games and I just thought this would be our way of handing Lindy his 2009 rings!!
Actually, we handed Lindy two beautiful trophies on Saturday in Las Vegas: One for the NFBC Main Event and one for the NFBC Online Championship. We took pictures of the presentation and videotaped his speech, so we'll find a home for all of that on our web site shortly. We shot a lot of video at the Bellagio and Citi Field and will have a beautiful video for all to see shortly and for our 2011 intro. I'm excited about that.
Lindy is so humble that I know he was just hoping I wouldn't call him up to that big stage in front of 180+ people in a 22,000+ square foot ballroom. But I think we did it nicely, first honoring four of our $100,000 champions who were in the room drafting that day: David DiDonato, Terry Haney, Bobby Jurney and then Lindy. We had Rich Gannon make a nice speech before we brought up Lindy to the podium and he did a nice job there.
Then we called up Lindy to the stage and presented him with his trophy. I told him we set aside 20 minutes for his acceptance speech, but I knew he wouldn't use two!!
But it was a speech from the heart as he thanked myself for the vision of the NFBC and Ken Magner, his best friend in baseball. I know the CDM guys assembled in the room were proud of Lindy and so was everyone else. It was a great way to kick off the season as everyone in that room wants to pull a Lindy in 2010!!
Congrats again Lindy. You will forever be known as CHAMP in the NFBC and you may be the only one to successfully complete the "Lindy." Even the insurance company is betting against that happening again. Good luck in 2010 because as you know it's tough for anyone to repeat as champion the following year. Good luck everyone.
