Plans For Posting Starting Lineups In Week 0, 1 and Beyond

Okay, here's the latest lowdown on setting your starting lineups:

** You will be able to set the next week's starting lineup days in advance from Weeks 2-26 as you had in the past in the NFBC. Once the current week is underway (after the start of Monday's games), you will be able to set the next week's starting lineup. That's no different than what we had in the past.

** The only variation from that involves this week because the start of Week 0 isn't until the ESPN Sunday night game starts at 8:00 ET. However, you can set your starting lineup right now for Week 0 and it will carry over into Week 1. Once the Sunday night game is underway (or shortly after), then Week 1 will open up for your starting lineups and you can make changes if you'd like involving any of your players before the early afternoon Monday games. Sound good?

Again, you can set your starting lineups ahead of time once the current week is underway.

** You will see two sets of lineup links per week on your team page just like you did last year because of the Friday lineup change option. Like for Week 1, you'll see a link that says April 5-8 and then one that says April 9-11. You will be able to set the weekend lineup in advance once Monday's games are underway. Make sense?

This a rare week with the late Sunday start to the week and the early Monday start to Week 1. But set your lineups now for Week 0 and they will carry over into Week 1. If you get free agents this week or want to remove some of the Red Sox or Yankee players from your lineup for Week 2, do so before the early Monday games.

Okay, so this looks very similar to past years, correct? Sorry for the confusion before, but IT had this plan in place. I may have sent the wrong message before with the plan on setting your next starting lineup. Thanks for your patience all and we're getting closer to Opening Day. Good luck.

Greg, whast about the dropdown menu that allows us to easily view other owner's lineups?

Just wanted to confirm that this section of the rules is still accurate:

"First and Last Free Agent Bidding Deadlines: For leagues that draft on or before Sunday, March 28, the first free agent bidding deadline is Sunday, April 4, at 8 PM ET. For leagues that draft on Monday, March 29, through Saturday, April 3, the first free agent bidding deadline is Sunday, April 11, at 8 PM ET. The last free agent bidding deadline is Sunday, September 26, at 8 PM ET."

So the Online Double Play team I drafted on the 24th can pick up free agents this Sunday, but the one I drafted last night has to wait until the 11th? Am I missing something, or does this seem like a pointless distinction for the rules to make?

The rule was set up this way because when I posted the rules in November we did not have our own online draft software. We used MDC.com in the past and loading rosters from that site to our site took time and there were placeholders and other items to work on. So it was nearly impossible to host drafts on Friday and Saturday and still run FAAB for those leagues on Sunday.

But with our own draft software now in place, it's much easier to do that. That being said, I wanted to explain the reason for the two FAAB opening dates and then figure out the best solution.

Newbie qustion. Spelling this out in detail to make sure I understand. Please confirm if I have this right. I drafted early (week 1 in AC). Week 0 consitutes 1 game on Sunday night. Week 1 is a standard week that begins on monday. FAAB pick-ups are on sunday night and become available on monday morning. So all FAAB pick-ups are eligible for week 1 and not week zero.

Is that correct?

Is that correct? Correct. Winning FAAB bids will be known on Sunday night, shortly after they are run at 8 ET. Any free agents that you acquired on Sunday night need to be inserted into your starting lineup before the start of Monday's first game. Good luck.

Very good explanations.

I'm in the $500 draft April 3rd so I'm eagerly awaiting news on whether the April 4th FAAB can still occur. I'd vote to allow it.
