SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacob Ellsbury has had arthroscopic surgery to repair a season-threatening injury to his right shoulder.



The procedure performed Thursday by noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews was not as extensive as the Red Sox anticipated, meaning he has a better chance to play again this season than first expected.



The Red Sox were hoping Ellsbury could be their leadoff hitter he'd after stole a team high 70 bases last year. This thread is an april fool's joke. The shoulder soreness began about a week ago and continued to persist.
